In a printing system capable of supplying a sheet of a job having undergone print processing by the printing unit of a printing apparatus to a post-processing unit capable of executing at least a specific type of post-processing among a plurality of types of post-processes, when the target job requires the specific type of post-processing, the printing apparatus is inhibited from executing print processing of the job without explicitly determining a sheet necessary for the print processing of the job by a user using a user interface unit. When the target job does not require the specific type of post-processing, the printing apparatus is permitted to execute print processing of the job without explicitly determining a sheet necessary for the print processing of the job by the user using the user interface unit.
Printing apparatus and control method therefor
A printing apparatus includes a printing unit, a post-processing unit, and a controller. The controller includes a paper-type setting section configured to set a paper type of a paper feeding section, a storing section configured to store a plurality of paper types for which specific post processing is possible, and a control executing section. The printing output data includes paper type designation information, paper feeding section designation information, and post-processing designation information. When the post-processing designation information designates selection of the specific post processing and predetermined conditions including a condition that a paper type of second paper set by the paper-type setting section coincides with any one of the plurality of paper types stored in the storing section are satisfied, the control executing section controls the printing unit and the post-processing unit according to the paper feeding section designation information and the post-processing designation information irrespective of designation by the paper type designation information.

A sheet alignment apparatus includes a sheet leading-end aligning device, a sheet side-end aligning device. The sheet leading-end aligning device is configured to align a leading end of a sheet bundle in a sheet conveyance direction. The sheet side-end aligning device is configured to align a side end of the sheet bundle in the sheet conveyance direction and move the sheet bundle to a predetermined position. The sheet leading-end aligning device is configured to maintain contact with the leading end of the sheet bundle when the sheet leading-end aligning device retracts from a movement path of the sheet side-end aligning device along which the sheet side-end aligning device moves the sheet bundle to the predetermined position.

A post-processing apparatus includes a tray, a conveyor, a liquid applicator, a crimper, and a mover. The tray holds recording media on each of which an image is formed by an image forming apparatus. The conveyor conveys the recording media toward the tray in a conveyance direction of the recording media. The liquid applicator applies liquid to the recording media held in the tray at a binding position at which the recording media is bound. The crimper presses and deforms the recording media at the binding position to bind the recording media. The mover moves the liquid applicator and the crimper separately along a surface of the recording media held in the tray.
PRINTING APPARATUS
A printing apparatus, having a container to store a printing medium therein, an acquisition device to acquire image data, a printing device to print an image on the printing medium, a cutter assembly to cut the printing medium, and a controller, is provided. In a case where a size of the image contained in the image data acquired by the acquisition device is smaller than a size of the printing medium stored in the container, the controller generates rotated image data containing a rotated image, which is an image rotated from an original posture of the image in the image data acquired by the acquisition device, controls the printing device based on the generated rotated image data to print the rotated image on the printing medium, and controls the cutter assembly to cut the printing medium having the rotated image printed by the printing device thereon.

The image forming control method includes acquiring job data and job parameters corresponding to the job data, where the job parameters include an image post-processing direction and a job data direction; determining a sheet feed direction based on the image post-processing direction and the job data direction in conjunction with a pre-stored corresponding relationship for characterizing a preset image post-processing direction, a preset job data direction, and a preset sheet feed direction; and based on the sheet feed direction, the job data, the job data direction, and the image post-processing direction, controlling an image forming device to perform an image forming operation, and controlling an image post-processing device to perform an image post-processing operation.
