Printing system
A printing system includes: a first printing unit that performs printing on a medium on the basis of first printing data; a first inventing unit that is located downstream from the first printing unit in a transportation direction specific to the medium and performs an inverting operation that is an operation of inverting front and back sides of the medium; a second printing unit that is located downstream from the first inverting unit in the transportation direction and performs printing on the medium on the basis of second printing data; and a control unit that determines whether the first inverting unit needs to perform the inverting operation, on the basis of whether the second printing data indicates a printing page for the front or back side of the medium.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS RELATING TO DOCUMENT AND FASTENER IDENTIFICATION
Method and systems of automated document processing described herein include activating in sequence a plurality of illumination modules of an illumination source to illuminate a document, where the plurality of illumination modules are located at different positions relative to the document. The document can be imaged each time the document is illuminated by an illumination module to provide a plurality of images. A shadow profile of the document can be obtained based on the plurality of images. One or more of a boundary of the document and presence of a fastener attached to the document can be identified using the shadow profile. Any fasteners present may be removed using a robot arm.
Image formation system capable of starting execution of calibration with timing to start insertion of interleaving paper
An image formation system includes an image forming apparatus and an inserter. The image forming apparatus includes an image forming device, a conveyance device, and a control device. The control device functions as a controller and an executor. The controller allows the inserter to insert an interleaving paper between sheets of printed material at an insertion start timing specified by a print job. When the plurality of calibrations include a second calibration capable of being completed within an interleaving paper insertion time required to insert the interleaving paper or a third calibration capable of being completed within a total time of the interleaving paper insertion time and a predetermined additional time, the executor executes the second calibration or the third calibration in time with the insertion start timing.
IMAGE READING APPARATUS AND IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS
An image reading apparatus includes a document tray, a detection unit, a sheet feeding unit, a conveyance unit, a reading unit, a sheet discharge unit, a sheet discharge tray, and a control unit configured to stop feeding of the document by the sheet feeding unit in a case where the detection unit detects that there is no document present on the document tray. The control unit is configured to execute a first mode and a second mode, the first mode being a mode in which the sheet feeding unit stops feeding of documents in a case where the number of documents having been discharged continuously by the sheet discharge unit has reached a predetermined number of sheets, and the second mode being a mode in which the sheet feeding unit continues feeding of the documents regardless of the number of documents having been discharged continuously by the sheet discharge unit.
Medium transport apparatus and image reading apparatus
In a scanner, a medium transport apparatus includes an apparatus main body including a medium transport path from a supply unit, which supplies a medium, to a discharge unit, which discharges the medium, a switcher that switches an attitude of the apparatus main body with respect to a mounting surface on which the apparatus main body is mounted, and a controller that, when the attitude of the apparatus main body with respect to the mounting surface is switched, performs control in accordance with the attitude after the switching.
IMAGE READING APPARATUS
A scanner includes: a first transport roller pair that transports a material; a reader that reads the material; a second transport roller pair that transports the material; a transport motor; and a pressing section. The transport motor 50 rotates both the rollers of the first transport roller pair and both the rollers of the second transport roller pair. The pressing section can vary a first pressing force generated in the first transport roller pair and a second pressing force generated in the second transport roller pair. The pressing section varies the second pressing force in such a way that the second pressing force when the first transport roller pair transports the material but the second transport roller pair does not transport the material becomes lower than the second pressing force when neither the first transport roller pair nor the second transport roller pair transports the material.
IMAGE READING APPARATUS
An apparatus main body of an image reading apparatus is capable of being switched between a first posture and a second posture in which an inclination angle is smaller than that of the first posture. The image reading apparatus is capable of switching between a separation state in which a separation roller separates a document and a non-separation state in which the separation roller does not separate the document. The image reading apparatus puts the separation roller in the separation state when the apparatus main body is in the first posture and puts the separation roller in the non-separation state when the apparatus main body is in the second posture.
Image forming apparatus
An image forming apparatus includes a sheet feeding portion, a detecting portion, and a controller. The controller sets a state of the detecting portion at a first monitoring state in which a detection result of the detecting portion is acquired to detect presence or absence of the recording material by supplying the electric power to the detecting portion in a first cyclic period. In case that the detection result of the detecting portion changes in the first monitoring state, the controller switches the state of the detecting portion to a second monitoring state in which a detection result of the detecting portion is acquired by supplying the electric power to the detecting portion in a second cyclic period shorter than the first cyclic period.
Technique for cooperation between plurality of separate controllers provided in image forming apparatus
In a case where a recording medium is to be stopped on a conveyance path and a length of the recording medium is a first length, a first controller stops a first motor upon a sensor detecting the front end of the recording medium, and a second controller stops a second motor upon the sensor detecting the front end of the recording medium. In a case where the recording medium is to be stopped on the conveyance path and the length of the recording medium is a second length, the first controller stops the first motor upon the sensor detecting the front end of the recording medium, and the second controller continues driving of the second motor even if the sensor detects the front end of the recording medium.
