The method and system includes displaying a user interface screen on the output display of the display device and detecting, via at least one of a plurality environmental sensors, a user gesture external to the display device, the user gesture engaging in a commercial transaction relating to the display of at least one of the plurality of images on the output display. The method and system includes accessing a financial services processing system, verifying user acknowledgement of the commercial transaction, and updating the output display based on the interface command.

The method includes: controlling a scanning element to scan light at an edge of a platen to obtain a signal value representing a light intensity; determining whether an absolute difference value between the signal value and a preset standard value is greater than a preset tolerance value; sending a prompt signal to prompt a user to close the platen cover plate in response to the absolute difference value being greater than the preset tolerance value; and continuing to perform scanning work on a manuscript on the platen in response to the absolute difference value being not greater than the preset tolerance value. The influence on quality of the scanned image due to incomplete closing of the platen cover plate is prevented.

An image scanning device according to aspects of the present disclosures includes a transparent plate member on which an original document can be placed, a line sensor configured to receive a light emitted from a light source and reflected by the original document, and output an electrical signal according to the reflected light, a holding member configured to cover an upper surface of the plate member, and a controller. The controller is configured to obtain a first electrical signal corresponding to a first reflected light when the light source emits light having a first light amount, obtain a second electrical signal corresponding to a second reflected light when the light source emits light having a second light amount, and determine a particular scanning mode for scanning the original document placed on the plate member based on an image difference value calculated from the first and second electrical signals.

A system and method provides for generating an output display on a display device based on at least one ambient condition. The method and system includes a display device or a component associated with a display device that provides for detecting an ambient condition using one or more environmental sensors. The method and system includes analyzing the ambient condition to determine ambient condition factors and retrieving visual display content from at least one visual content database using the ambient condition factors. Therein, the method and system provides the visual display content to the display device so the output display compliments the ambient condition.

An image forming apparatus includes an operating key, an illuminance sensor, and a controller. The operating key contains a lamp. The illuminance sensor detects an ambient illuminance. The controller controls turning on and off of the lamp. The operating key functions as a first trigger for return from a power-saving mode to a normal mode.
