An image reading apparatus including: a reading unit configured to read an image of an original in a main scanning direction; a housing configured to accommodate the reading unit; a guide member configured to guide a movement of the reading unit in a sub-scanning direction orthogonal to the main scanning direction; and a restricting member configured to restrict the movement of the reading unit in the sub-scanning direction and a movement of the reading unit in a vertical direction orthogonal to the main scanning direction and the sub-scanning direction.

A reading device includes a housing, an imaging unit, a reading lighting unit, a guiding unit, and a guiding lighting unit. The housing has an opening covered with a transparent opening cover. An imaging unit is disposed inside the housing. The reading lighting unit illuminates the opening cover from inside the housing. The guiding unit is provided on the same plane as the opening cover at a position separated from the opening cover. The guiding lighting unit emits light from the guiding unit to the outside of the housing.

A communication terminal communicates with an image forming apparatus to be moved on a medium to perform image formation. The communication terminal includes a display and circuitry configured to receive a notification from the image forming apparatus and to display a preview of an image to be formed by the image forming apparatus. The circuitry is further configured to distinguish, on the preview, one of a plurality of lines included in the image to be formed from a rest of the plurality of lines in accordance with a content of the notification and display operation aiding information for aiding an operation of the image forming apparatus in accordance with the content of the notification.

An image scanning unit an image forming apparatus having the same to scan an image recorded on a document. The image scanning unit includes: a transparent window on which a document to be scanned is laid; an image sensor running straightly under the transparent window for capturing an image recorded on the document, a unit for driving the image sensor; a guide shaft for guiding the straight movement of the image sensor; and an image sensor carrier connected to the driving unit and the guide shaft for straightly moving the image sensor along the guide shaft when the driving unit operates. The image sensor carrier has an image sensor mounting surface on which the image sensor is mounted, and a guide shaft holder integrally formed with the image sensor mounting surface and mounted on the guide shaft.

A reading device includes a housing, an imaging unit, a reading lighting unit, a guiding unit, and a guiding lighting unit. The housing has an opening covered with a transparent opening cover. An image acquisition system according to the present invention includes: a display device including a display surface on which a subject can be mounted; and the image acquisition device that is disposed face-down at a position above the display device in a manner spaced apart from the display surface, the display device being disposed with the display surface face-up, and that acquires images of the display surface and the subject placed on the display surface, wherein the image acquisition device includes a transmission unit that transmits the acquired images, and the display device includes: a reception unit that receives the transmitted images; a relative-position calculation unit that calculates the relative position between the display device and the image acquisition device on the basis of the received image; and a display control unit that controls content displayed on the display surface on the basis of the calculated relative position.

An image acquisition system according to the present invention includes: a display device including a display surface on which a subject can be mounted; and the image acquisition device that is disposed face-down at a position above the display device in a manner spaced apart from the display surface, the display device being disposed with the display surface face-up, and that acquires images of the display surface and the subject placed on the display surface, wherein the image acquisition device includes a transmission unit that transmits the acquired images, and the display device includes: a reception unit that receives the transmitted images; a relative-position calculation unit that calculates the relative position between the display device and the image acquisition device on the basis of the received image; and a display control unit that controls content displayed on the display surface on the basis of the calculated relative position.
