An electronic device includes circuitry to determine whether to reject or accept a facsimile being transmitted from a transmission source based on a common transmission source list. The common transmission source list is shared by a plurality of electronic devices including the electronic device. The circuitry further outputs a part of the facsimile in response to determining that the transmission source is one from which the facsimile is to be rejected, based on the common transmission source list.

An information processing apparatus includes circuitry to control a status, between read and unread, of a document received by facsimile from a sender apparatus. The circuitry controls display of a proposal screen for proposing that a sender facsimile number satisfying a predetermined condition be registered as a rejected facsimile number. A facsimile from the rejected facsimile number is to be rejected or deleted.

A facsimile communication device includes circuitry to count, for each of one or more facsimile numbers, at least one of the number of facsimile transmission times and the number of output times that is stored in association with a corresponding one of the one or more facsimile numbers. The circuitry determines whether registration of a specified facsimile number for unwanted facsimile is reasonable to be performed, based on at least one of the number of facsimile transmission times associated with the specified facsimile number and the number of output times associated with the specified facsimile number. The specified facsimile number is included in the one or more facsimile numbers. The circuitry registers the specified facsimile number for the unwanted facsimile in response to determining that the registration of the specified facsimile number for the unwanted facsimile is reasonable to be performed.

To make it possible to appropriately determine whether to register a number in an address book for fax data from the number not registered in the address book. A fax data management system including: a management unit configured to, in the case where a fax number of received fax data is not registered in address book data, in which a name and a fax number of a source of transmission are registered in association with each other, manage information including at least the fax number of the received fax data as unregistered address information; a display unit configured to display the unregistered address information and an image corresponding to the received fax data of which the fax number is not registered in the address book data; and a registration unit configured to register a fax number selected from the unregistered address information in the address book data, the registered fax number being associated with a name of the source of transmission.

A facsimile communication device includes circuitry to count, for each of one or more facsimile numbers, at least one of the number of facsimile transmission times and the number of output times that is stored in association with a corresponding one of the one or more facsimile numbers. Methods and apparatus are described for transparently processing a fax transmission by a fax software program in a mobile device. In one embodiment, the fax software program identifies an incoming call at the mobile device. Upon the identification, the program prevents a display screen of the mobile device from outputting an incoming call ringing alert. The program answers the incoming call and analyzes the call to detect whether the answered call is a voice call. Upon detecting that the answered incoming call is a voice call, the program outputs the incoming call ringing alert via the display screen. Otherwise, if the answered incoming call is a fax transmission, the program merges the call with a fax server, such that the fax server receives the fax transmission. Other embodiments are also described and claimed.

A method and system for controlling unwanted phone calls. In response to a determination that a phone number of a current incoming call to a user is not a phone number in a contact list including phone numbers of the user's contacts and to a determination that the phone number of the current incoming call is a phone number in a phone list of a shared table, the shared table for the previous call duration is analyzed for the previous call duration and the previous sentiment of the user during a previous incoming phone call for the phone number of the current incoming call to the user. It is ascertained, from analyzing the shared table for the previous call duration, that the previous call duration is less than a predetermined call duration and the previous sentiment is a negative sentiment, and in response the current incoming call is rejected.

Methods and apparatus are described for transparently processing a fax transmission by a fax software program in a mobile device.
