An image forming apparatus includes: a scanner to read a plurality of images of document into a plurality of pieces of image data each representing the image; a memory to store the plurality of pieces of image data in an order of image reading by the scanner; a printer to print, on one or more recording media sheets, the plurality of images according to the plurality of pieces of image data having been stored in the memory, in an order different from an order of image reading by the scanner; and circuitry to: in response to reading of a first image of the plurality of images of document into first image data representing the first image, calculate a remaining number of readable images using the first image data; and display information based on the remaining number of readable images.

The present disclosure discloses methods and systems for generating multiple scanned files when scanning a document. The method includes receiving a document for scanning from a user. Once received, a user interface is displayed to the user to input one or more keywords based on which multiple scanned files are to be generated. A single scanned file is generated in a pre-defined format. One or more pages having the keywords as input by the user are identified from the scanned file. Based on the one or more identified pages having the keywords input by the user, separate multiple scanned files are automatically generated. As a result, a single scan activity performed by the user generates multiple scanned files.

An image processing apparatus capable of improving operability of a question preparer. The image processing apparatus including a memory device that stores instructions, and a processor that executes the instructions to: generate a question sheet image by controlling a reading unit to read a question sheet in which question sentences and question numbers are written, generate an answer sheet image by controlling the reading unit to read an answer sheet that includes answer fields, question numbers corresponding to the answer fields, and marks showing marking results, detect an answer field including a wrong answer mark from the answer sheet image, obtain a question number corresponding to the detected answer field from the answer sheet image, obtain a question sentence corresponding to the obtained question number from the question sheet image, and generate a review image including the obtained question sentence and a new answer field.

It is possible to continue printing processing without suspension even in the case where print data is not prepared in time in continuous printing that is performed by continuously feeding sheets. An image forming apparatus includes: a generation unit configured to generate image data based on a print job; a determination unit configured to determine whether image data corresponding to a sheet passing a predetermined location of a conveyance path through which sheets are conveyed is prepared in time; and a control unit configured to perform, in the case where the determination unit determines that image data is not prepared in time, control to leave the sheet as a blank sheet by skipping processing to form an image for the sheet, and the control unit changes a printing order determined in advance in the case where the determination unit determines that image data is not prepared in time.

An image forming apparatus includes a memory including instructions, and at least one processor for executing the instruction to cause the image forming apparatus to act as a generation unit to perform image processing so as to generate image data including pieces of page data based on a print job, a determination unit to determine whether a piece of page data corresponding to a sheet passing a predetermined location of a conveyance path is prepared in time, and a control unit to perform, in a case where the piece of page data is not prepared in time, control to leave the sheet as a blank sheet by not performing image processing. The present disclosure discloses methods, systems and scanners for scanning document with varying light intensity. The method includes receiving a bound document positioned on an upper surface of a platen, for scanning, wherein the bound document, when opened for scanning, includes a flat region and a curved region. A distance between the bound document positioned on the platen and a contact image sensor (CIS) is continuously monitored and measured, to detect the curved region. Upon detection, a control command is generated to vary the intensity of the light to be emitted from a light source. Then, light with varying intensity is emitted for illuminating the curved region of the bound document. Thereafter, the light reflected from the bound document is received for capturing an image of the bound document. Finally, a digital version of the bound document is generated without any dark strip or without any distortion.

The present disclosure discloses methods, systems and scanners for scanning document with varying light intensity. The size acquisition unit acquires first size information indicating a first sheet size of a first sheet surface read by an image reading unit. The decision unit decides second image information indicating a second image size of a second image to be stored of a second sheet surface different from the first sheet surface based on first image information indicating a first image size of a first image to be stored based on the first size information.
