A technique for saving a setting of a transmission job as a setting history for a call function as needed by a user when an information processing apparatus such as an image processing apparatus (MFP) has executed the transmission job is provided. Upon executing a transmission job received from a mobile device, the MFP determines in accordance with an instruction by a user as to whether to save a setting of the transmission job as a setting history (transmission history) for a call function that reuses a setting of a job executed in the past to execute a job. For a setting of a transmission job for which it is determined not to save as a setting history for the call function, the MFP prohibits saving as a setting history.

A server apparatus receives setting information that indicates settings of an information processing apparatus, and obtains a default setting for each of a plurality of particular setting items that are related to security among a plurality of setting items in the information processing apparatus. The server apparatus detects, based on the setting information, whether or not a setting of each of the plurality of particular setting items has been changed from the default setting, and notifies a user of a detection result in a case where it has been detected that none of the settings of the plurality of particular setting items has been changed from the default setting.

A printer monitoring system includes: a server configured to collect event information indicating an event that occurs in a printer; and a mobile device configured to execute a display application that causes a display to display a related screen including the event information. The server generates link information for directly transitioning a screen displayed by the display application to the related screen corresponding to the event information, and transmits the event information received from the printer and the link information to the mobile device. The mobile device displays the event that occurs in the printer on the display in a selectable manner, and causes a screen displayed by the display application to be transitioned to the related screen indicated by the link information when the event is selected.

If an operation of canceling a predetermined state includes an operation of powering off the device, even if communication between the device and the information processing apparatus becomes inexecutable after the screen for cancelling the predetermined state is displayed, the information processing apparatus does not execute a notification corresponding to a state in which the communication is inexecutable. If the operation of canceling the predetermined state does not include the operation of powering off the device, the information processing apparatus executes, based on a fact that the communication between the device and the information processing apparatus becomes inexecutable after the screen for cancelling the predetermined state is displayed, the notification corresponding to the state in which the communication is inexecutable.

A method of performing error notification and error recovery functions in an image forming apparatus includes detecting by one or more sub-processors an error of a main processor for controlling the sub-processors; controlling an interface function of the image forming apparatus if the error is detected; outputting information about the detected error; and recovering the detected error by controlling an operation of the main processor.

Information on printer maintenance or an updating of software is notified without giving uncomfortable feeling to a user by an unintentional change of screen displays. The receiving unit receives and installs one or more program information items for executing a preset process. The executing unit executes the preset process on the basis of at least one of the installed one or more program information items. An information processing apparatus capable of communicating with an external apparatus, comprises: an obtainment unit that obtains information from an external apparatus; a determination unit that determines an operation mode of the information processing apparatus; and a notification unit that performs a notification based on the information obtained by the obtainment unit, wherein the notification unit, if the mode determined by the determination unit is a specific operation mode, performs the notification based on the information obtained by the obtainment unit in a second notification screen that is smaller than a first notification screen, and, if the mode determined by the determination unit is not the specific operation mode, performs the notification based on the information obtained by the obtainment unit in the first notification screen.
