The communication interface communicates with a wireless tag at a connection position where a sheet conveyance path is formed between the apparatus and a retrofit device equipped with the wireless tag. The detector detects a connection state between the retrofit device and the apparatus based on a communication result of the communication interface. The notification interface provides a notification based on the connection state detected by the detector. The detection method includes detecting a connection state between the retrofit device and the apparatus based on a communication result of the communication interface, and providing a notification based on the connection state detected in the detection. The image forming system includes an apparatus and a retrofit device provided with a wireless tag.

A printing apparatus of the present invention makes wireless LAN connection in at least either one of a first connection mode for making wireless LAN connection to an image processing apparatus in which inherent authentication information is stored and a second connection mode for making wireless LAN connection to the image processing apparatus via a second access point provided by an apparatus other than the printing device and the image processing apparatus. The printing apparatus controls, in a case of connection in the first connection mode, a first function provided by the printing apparatus to be enabled and a second function which is enabled in the second connection mode to be disabled.

A communication apparatus capable of communicating with an access point includes a storage unit configured to store, in at least one memory, each of first setting information, which can be changed by a first user and cannot be changed by a second user whose authorization is lower than that of the first user, and second setting information, which can be changed by the second user. The communication apparatus is operated using the first setting information when a predetermined authentication method is used in communication in which connection in which connection between the access point and the communication apparatus is established is used, and the communication apparatus is operated using the second setting information when the predetermined authentication method is not used.

An image forming apparatus includes a processor configured to form an image, transmit the image to a server that generates a processed image of the image by executing a designated image process on the image and is on an outside of a firewall, and, in a case where the image includes designation information designating the processed image to be transmitted to an instructed transmission destination via a fax line, request an alternative apparatus to fax-transmit the processed image to the transmission destination, the alternative apparatus being on an inside of the firewall together and having a fax function.
