Methods and apparatus are described for receiving a fax transmission at a mobile phone. In one embodiment, the mobile phone receives an incoming call and answers the incoming call, upon receiving a command from a user of the mobile phone to answer the incoming call. A program on the mobile phone then detects that the incoming call is a fax transmission, and then places an outgoing call to a fax server. The program on the mobile phone then conferences the incoming call with the outgoing call to the fax server, such that the fax server receives the fax transmission. Other embodiments are also described and claimed.

The facsimile apparatus of the present invention, and the method of controlling the same, switches a connection between a telephone device and a telephone line between connected and cut off, has a power supply for supplying power to the telephone device, and, in a state where the telephone device and the telephone line are connected and supply of power from the power supply to the telephone device is stopped, in a case that an off-hook of the telephone device is detected by a detection unit for detecting an off-hook and an on-hook of the telephone device, controls to start supply of power from the power supply to the telephone device.

There is provided an image communicating apparatus according to this invention. The image communicating apparatus determines whether to use a FAX server for FAX sending, adds, if it is determined to use the FAX server for the FAX sending, domain information of the FAX server to a destination of the FAX sending, and sends an image to the destination of the FAX sending, that has been added with the domain information.

A login management portion performs user authentication on the basis of a user ID and allows login of a user. A transfer control portion transmits, to a predetermined call transfer control device, a transfer setting request for causing a voice communication device to change an incoming call destination of a telephone number that corresponds to the user ID of the user whose login has been allowed. The login management portion prohibits, when a first user logs in, login of a second user different from the first user, and allows, when the voice communication device starts voice communication of the telephone number that corresponds to the user ID of the first user, login of the second user while prohibiting use of the voice communication device by the second user different from the first user.

An image forming apparatus equipped with a plurality of service applications for providing respective services, in a state enabling a selected one of the service applications to be automatically started from a terminal apparatus. An image forming apparatus capable of performing printing includes a NFC unit. An NFC controller generates data to be read out by an external apparatus, according to selection of one of a plurality of applications. The NFC controller writes the generated data into the NFC unit.

The present invention provides a technique that enables an image communication apparatus capable of performing voice communication and T.30 in-band FAX communication over the IP network to positively detect a CNG signal and achieve switching to FAX reception in the answerphone connection mode and the FAX/TEL-switching mode. The communication apparatus includes a MODEM that controls facsimile communication and a SLIC that controls a telephone. A selector includes switches for connecting the IP network and the MODEM, and switches for connecting the IP network and the SLIC. A CPU controls the switches of the selector such that signals from the IP network are supplied to both of the MODEM and the SLIC.

An image forming apparatus includes a first connection portion, a second connection portion, a communication processing portion, a switch processing portion, and a connection determination processing portion. To the switch processing portion, the first connection portion and the second connection portion are connected in parallel. The switch processing portion breaks a communication path between the second connection portion and the switch processing portion when the facsimile communication process is executed by the communication processing portion. The connection determination processing portion, when a predetermined determination start condition is satisfied, causes the switch processing portion to break the communication path, and then when a predetermined line voltage is applied to the switch processing portion, determines that a connection between the first connection portion and the public switched telephone network is normal.

An image communication apparatus, to communicate with a telephone set, includes a first control unit, a detection unit, a generation unit, and a second control unit. The first control unit controls the image communication apparatus. The detection unit detects an occurrence of a telephone set off-hook state. The generation unit generates a pseudo-CI signal for ringing the telephone set or an intermittent off-hook voltage to be supplied to the detection unit. The telephone set is connected to a communication line or the generation unit. The second control unit controls the generation unit. Where the telephone set is controlled to wait for a call without being allowed to ring in a power-saving state, the telephone set is connected to the generation unit and placed in the power-saving state. In the power-saving state, the second control unit controls the generation unit to supply a generated intermittent off-hook voltage to the detection unit.
