In an embodiment, an apparatus is provided that may include circuitry to generate, at least in part, and/or receive, at least in part, at least one request that at least one network node generate, at least in part, information. The information may be to permit selection, at least in part, of (1) at least one power consumption state of the at least one network node, and (2) at least one time period. The at least one time period may be to elapse, after receipt by at least one other network node of at least one packet, prior to requesting at least one change in the at least one power consumption state. The at least one packet may be to be transmitted to the at least one network node. Of course, many alternatives, modifications, and variations are possible without departing from this embodiment.

Distribution of electronic documents is described, including receiving an electronic document to be distributed, identifying whether a destination identifier is associated with a destination account among a known group of customer accounts, routing the electronic document, and calculating a fee associated with delivery of the electronic document based on whether the destination account is among the known group of customers and a set of billing rules. In other aspects, the set of billing rules may specify a discounted fee for routing an electronic document to a first group of the known group of customer accounts and specify a standard fee for a second group of the known group of customer accounts.

An information processing apparatus capable of reliably switching a session. An IP fax as an information processing apparatus is connected to another IP fax. The IP fax establishes an audio session with the other IP fax. After establishing the audio session, the IP fax receives capability information indicating capabilities of the other IP fax therefrom. After receiving the capability information, the IP fax requests the other IP fax to switch the audio session to a T.38 session. Then, the IP fax switches the audio session to the T.38 session.

According to this invention, in a reception end facsimile apparatus having a first communication mode for performing communication at a high speed and a second communication mode for performing communication at a low speed, it is determined based on an instruction from a transmission end facsimile apparatus whether to perform error correction during facsimile communication. Control is done not to perform communication in the first communication mode based on a fact that it is determined not to perform error correction during facsimile communication.

There is provided an image processing apparatus that is characterized by: reading an original document and generating image data; performing transmission of an electronic mail to which the image data is attached; performing, according to an end of the transmission of the electronic mail, transmission of an end notification mail for notifying the end of the transmission of the electronic mail; setting a transmission destination to which the end notification mail is transmitted; and deciding whether or not to permit the attachment of the image data to the end notification mail, according to the transmission destination.
