The at least one processor of the image forming device is configured to perform: receiving job information for executing a function of the image forming device from a terminal, the job information including user information; based on the user information included in the received job information, logging a user into the image forming device; executing a job based on the received job information; and based on execution of the job, logging out the user from the image forming device.

An image reading apparatus includes a scanner, an operation panel, a communication interface, and a processor. The scanner is configured to read an image of a document. The operation panel is configured to designate a transmission destination of scan data, the scan data including image data of the document read by the scanner. The communication interface is configured to transmit the scan data to the transmission destination designated on the operation panel. The processor is configured to transmit the scan data to the transmission destination without a password in response to the transmission destination designated on the operation panel being a transmission destination of an operator who operates the operation panel, and transmit the scan data protected with a password to the transmission destination in response to the transmission destination designated on the operation panel including a transmission destination of any person other than the operator.

An information processing apparatus includes a user list providing unit configured to receive device identification information from a current device connected via a network and to send, to the current device, a user list including one or more user identifiers that are stored in a storage unit in association with the received device identification information; and a program list providing unit configured to receive a user identifier that is selected at the current device from the user identifiers in the user list and to send, to the current device, a program list including sets of program information stored in the storage unit in association with the received user identifier.

An information processing apparatus and a method of controlling the information processing apparatus are provided. An image processing apparatus of one embodiment includes an image processing unit and a controller. The controller receives biometric information for a user for a logon operation and re-orders user record entries in a table when a predetermined condition occurs. Each record entry in the table includes reference biometric information in association with user information. The re-ordering of the entries is based on user information stored in the user record entries. After the re-ordering of the user record entries in the table, the controller performs an authentication operation that includes comparing the received biometric information to reference biometric information in the re-ordered user record entries of the table until a match is determined.

An image reading apparatus includes a first communication device provided communicatively with a first information processing apparatus, a second communication device provided communicatively with a second information processing apparatus, and a processor to receive a setting for a transmission destination of an input image, prohibit transmission of the input image via a communication device different from a communication device provided communicatively with the transmission destination, and determine whether the communication device provided communicatively with the transmission destination is in a state physically communicable with a network or an information processing apparatus. The processor permits transmission of the input image via the communication device different from the communication device provided communicatively with the transmission destination when it is determined that the communication device provided communicatively with the transmission destination is not in a state physically communicable with the network or the information processing apparatus.

An information processing apparatus includes a user list providing unit configured to receive device identification information from a current device connected via a network and to send, to the current device, a user list including one or more user identifiers that are stored in a storage unit in association with the received device identification information; and a program list providing unit configured to receive a user identifier that is selected at the current device from the user identifiers in the user list and to send, to the current device, a program list including sets of program information stored in the storage unit in association with the received user identifier.

In accordance with an embodiment, an image forming apparatus comprises a storage section configured to store a setting indicating one of a first condition for permitting start of an application both in a login state and in a logout state and a second condition for permitting start of the application only in the login state; a receiving section configured to receive an instruction to start the application; and a control section configured to start the application if the first condition is set for the application or start the application on condition that the image forming apparatus is in the login state if the second condition is set for the application in response to a start instruction in a logout state.

The print data processing device includes: a data storage unit that receives and stores print data sent from a host device; an information acquisition unit that acquires requirement information indicating whether or not printing on print media is required; a data processing unit that, when the requirement information indicates printing on the print media is not required, converts the stored print data to print simulation data that does not cause execution of a printing process by a printer; a data output unit that outputs stored print data or print simulation data to the printer according to the requirement information; and a response unit that receives the response to the host device from the printer based on the output print data or print simulation data, and relays the response to the host device.
