Signal reshaping for high dynamic range signals

In a method to improve backwards compatibility when decoding high-dynamic range images coded in a wide color gamut (WCG) space which may not be compatible with legacy color spaces, hue and/or saturation values of images in an image database are computed for both a legacy color space (say, YCbCr-gamma) and a preferred WCG color space (say, IPT-PQ). Based on a cost function, a reshaped color space is computed so that the distance between the hue values in the legacy color space and rotated hue values in the preferred color space is minimized HDR images are coded in the reshaped color space. Legacy devices can still decode standard dynamic range images assuming they are coded in the legacy color space, while updated devices can use color reshaping information to decode HDR images in the preferred color space at full dynamic range.

Aircraft inkjet printing

A method, apparatus, system, and computer program product for applying a color to an aircraft. The color for an exterior surface of the aircraft is determined by the computer system from a design of the aircraft. A position of the color in three-dimensional space is determined by the computer system. The position is in a color space coordinate system. An inkjet printer in the inkjet printers with a point cloud in the plurality of point clouds having a smallest Euclidean distance to the position of the color is selected by the computer system. The inkjet printer is used to apply the color on the exterior surface of the aircraft.

COLOR PRINTING LOOK-UP-TABLE

A look-up table for use in a printing system is created. The printing system prints an input image in a print color space. The look-up table is created by accessing a predetermined look-up table representing a mapping of color values of an input color space to ink-vectors of a print color space; applying a p-by-q halftone threshold matrix to each ink-vector of the predetermined look-up table to generate a p-by-q halftone cell for each ink-vector; and creating a further look-up table which maps, at least a sample of, the color values of input color space to the at least one halftone cell.

Display Management for High Dynamic Range Video

A display management processor receives an input image with enhanced dynamic range to be displayed on a target display which has a different dynamic range than a reference display. The input image is first transformed into a perceptually-quantized (PQ) color space, preferably the IPT-PQ color space. A color volume mapping function, which includes an adaptive tone-mapping function and an adaptive gamut mapping function, generates a mapped image. A detail-preservation step is applied to the intensity component of the mapped image to generate a final mapped image with a filtered tone-mapped intensity image. The final mapped image is then translated back to the display's preferred color space. Examples of the adaptive tone mapping and gamut mapping functions are provided.

PRINTING DEVICE SUPPLY COMPONENT

In some examples, a supply component for a printing device includes a memory device comprising a plurality of corrective data to produce a corresponding plurality of color tables each customized for a respective media type of a plurality of media types, wherein a respective corrective data of the plurality of corrective data corresponds to nodes of a reference color table for the printing device that is able to accept the plurality of media types for printing. The respective corrective data includes a plurality of residual values to transform the nodes of the reference color table to a customized color table for use with a selected media type of the plurality of media types.

COLOR TABLE COMPRESSION

In some examples, a print cartridge includes a memory device comprising quantized coefficients derived from a compression of a difference table including a plurality of difference nodes in which each difference node represents a value that is a difference of a value of a node of a color table and a value of a corresponding node of a reference table, the quantized coefficients useable to produce a reconstructed difference table, and a plurality of residue nodes in which each residue node represents a value that is a difference of a value of a node of the color table and a value of a corresponding node of the reconstructed difference table.

The present invention relates to a method of generating “expanded color chart” representing various ink combination, for profiling a multi-color printing device or printer, using “reduced set of color chart”, printed using the printer, where a. The expanded color chart is computed by applying “Error Correction” function to the expanded color chart predicted using a theoretical model of color prediction for a given ink combinations in the expanded chart. b. Error Correction function is computed/modelled as function of the variance/difference observed between the color values predicted by the theoretical model and the actual values measured for the ink combinations in the printed “reduced set of color chart”.
