Methods, systems, and a remote control for sending emergency alert requests are disclosed. The methods and systems comprise receiving an emergency alert request from a user via a set-top box at a subscriber location. The emergency alert request is received from a remote control. A medical alert message is sent by the set-top box to a processing device, based on the received medical alert request, via a first network. The processing device sends an emergency alert instruction to provide emergency assistance to the subscriber location to an emergency assistance service provider, via a second network, based, at least in part, on the message. A request to provide medical assistance to the subscriber location may be sent to a medical assistance service provider, who may be a third party. Emergency alert requests for the police or fire department may be sent to a 9-1-1 service.
PROVIDING A REMOTE KEYBOARD SERVICE
The systems described herein provide a remote keyboard service for a media device on a computing device without having to invoke an application or unlock the computing device. The computing device can receive a message indicating that a text input field on the other device is selected and present a notification to the user prompting the user to invoke the virtual keyboard on the computing device to provide text input to the selected text input field. The computing device can receive user input selecting the notification and present a virtual keyboard for providing text input to the other device. The computing device can receive keyboard input from the user selecting characters and send the characters to the other device. The other device can then user the characters as text input to the selected text input field.

The disclosure provides a satellite finding apparatus and satellite finding method, includes a set-top-box (STB) and a satellite antenna receiving device (SARD). The SARD includes motors, tuners and antennas. The disclosure further provides a satellite finding method. The satellite finding apparatus will perform short-circuit detection if a switch of satellite is determined upon. The disclosure enables the motor only at the time when the satellite finding apparatus needs to find the satellite, it can save energy and prevents the destroying of the motor.

IMAGE PROCESSING TERMINAL AND METHOD FOR CONTROLLING AN EXTERNAL DEVICE USING THE SAME
An image processing terminal and a method for controlling an external device are disclosed. The image processing terminal comprises a receiving unit configured to receive a control signal including information about a normal input or a force input applied to a specific key of a remote controller; and a processor configured to control the image processing terminal or an external device connected to the image processing terminal according to the received control signal. Here, the processor controls an operation of the external device in response to the force input applied to the specific key of the remote controller, an operation of controlling the external device according to the force input applied to the specific key is different from an operation of controlling the image processing terminal or an operation of controlling the external device according to the normal input applied to the specific key.

A keypress processing method for a terminal and a keypress processing apparatus for a terminal are provided. The keypress processing method for a terminal includes: receiving a keypress processing request carrying a keypress value; determining a target application matching with the keypress value according to keypress value information reported by an application in running state in the terminal, wherein the application comprises a network Web application or a local application, and the keypress value information comprises a set of keypress values supported by the application; and sending the keypress processing request to the target application for processing. APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR PROVIDING MEDIA SERVICES
An embodiment of the invention provides an apparatus for providing a media service while outputting a content. The apparatus includes: a processor; a memory for storing one or more program instructions executed by the processor; and a control signal receiver unit for receiving from a remote control a control signal resulting from a key input made by a user, where the program instructions determine whether the key input is a normal input or a force input by comparing a sensing level, which is associated with a pressure or an area by which the user presses the key, with a preset value; identify the content outputted on the screen when the control signal is received, when the key input is a force input; and execute an operation different from an operation of a normal input for the key, according to a combination of the identified content and the force input.

A remote controller for providing a force input in a media system and a method for operating the same are disclosed. The remote controller comprises: at least one of a navigation key, a determination key or a function key, a first sensing unit configured to sense a coordinate of the key, a second sensing unit configured to sense one or more of pressure and an area applied to the key by a means for selecting the key, and a control signal unit. Here, one or more sensing levels are set to the key. The control signal unit outputs a control signal including a control information concerning the determined sensing level, the control information includes the coordinate of the selected key and information concerning the pressure or the area applied when the key is selected, and plural sensing levels from the same key are matched with different function or screen.
