HALFTONE SCREENS ENCODING SIGNATURES
In an example, a method includes, at least one processor, in response to each of a plurality of requests, determining a halftone screen. Determining the halftone screen comprises encoding a signature pattern in the halftone screen, and halftone screens for different requests may be encoded with a different signature pattern. The halftone screen may be arranged such that, when applied to image data to provide a printed output, the pattern is discernible therein to provide a signature for the printed output.
Method for reading a code stored in a halftone image and comparison with a retrievable value
A method for checking the authenticity of products, by checking an image (A) of a product. The proof of authenticity is not visible to the human eye and cannot be copied. This is characterized in that a code stored in a halftone image by manipulation of dots and/or a manipulated field bounded in the halftone image can be read by means of an optical device and compared with a retrievable value in at least one database. In at least one field (F1 to F5) a part of a serial number is determined which describes the structure of the serial number and a hash function used for transmitting the serial number to the database, and this is also characterized in that the serial number is subsequently assembled and encrypted with the corresponding hash function.
System for embedding searchable information, encryption, signing operation, transmission, storage database and retrieval
A cell phone is disclosed for acquiring information to be transmitted to a receiving facility and for transmitting such thereto. A capture device captures information from an external source. A processor is provided for associating with the captured information a representation of the date and time of the capture of the information, such that the representation of the date and time information in association with the captured information forms augmented captured information. The processor also places the augmented captured information in association with subscriber information in a transmission of the augmented captured information to a receiving facility requiring such subscriber information. A transmitter transmits the transmission including the augmented captured information and the subscriber information to the receiving facility. An encryptor encrypts the augmented captured information with a symmetrical encryption algorithm to provide encrypted augmented captured information in the transmission with the subscriber information.
ENCRYPTION DEVICE, COMPUTER-READABLE RECORDING MEDIUM, AND ENCRYPTION METHOD
An encryption circuit includes a fundamental vector generation circuit configured to generate a random number sequence for serving as a fundamental vector based on an initial vector, an image mask generation circuit configured to generate an image mask with a mask value set for each pixel in a region to be encrypted smaller than a frame size of the image, based on the fundamental vector and coordinate information for specifying the region to be encrypted, and an XOR operation circuit configured to compute an exclusive OR between each mask value of the image mask and each pixel value of the image data to generate encrypted image data.
Document certification and authentication system
This invention safeguards the integrity of a machine-printed paper document by entangling a characteristic signature derived from the document's paper grain structure with the identities of the printing device and the person or organization which issued the document. This protection is achieved using a certification phase performed by an augmented document printer and an authentication phase performed by an augmented document scanner. In the certification phase, the grain structure of a specific area of the original paper is imaged and processed to generate a unique signature for the paper. This signature is doubly encrypted using the private keys of the augmented printer and the certifier. These encryption steps entangle the signature of the paper with its source information in a way that thwarts counterfeiting attacks which either copy the document or falsely attribute its source to a specific printer and/or certifier.
Trusted evidence cameras and related methods and computer program products
Digital Cameras configured to verify authenticity of digital photos taken with the digital camera and related methods and computer program products are provided. GPS information associated with a photograph taken with the digital camera is obtained. A checksum of pixels that make up the photograph and the obtained GPS information is generated. The generated checksum is encrypted using a private key associated with the digital camera so as to allow verification that the photograph has not been modified.
Image forming apparatus having port to which portable memory is attachable
An image forming apparatus includes a controller configured to, in response to a target portable memory being attached to a port, determine whether the target portable memory is set as a dedicated memory for a storage printing process, based on whether identification information is stored in the target portable memory, when determining that the target portable memory is set as the dedicated memory, cause a user interface to display a first screen configured to receive an instruction to specify a storage destination to store print data in the storage printing process, and when determining that the target portable memory is not set as the dedicated memory, cause the user interface to display a second screen differing depending on whether the port to which the target portable memory has been attached is set as a dedicated port for the storage printing process.

An encryptor encrypts the augmented captured information with a symmetrical encryption algorithm to provide encrypted augmented captured information in the transmission with the subscriber information.
IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS HAVING PORT TO WHICH PORTABLE MEMORY IS ATTACHABLE
An image forming apparatus includes a controller and a memory interface having a port to receive a portable memory. The controller performs a portable memory using process that includes storing data in a dedicated memory, and performing a process using the data stored in the dedicated memory in response to an operation received via a user interface. The controller stores, before the portable memory using process, identification information in a portable memory attached to the port, thereby setting the portable memory as the dedicated memory. The controller determines whether a target portable memory as attached to the port is set as the dedicated memory, based on whether the identification information is stored in the target portable memory. The controller determines whether to display a first screen or a second screen, based on whether the target portable memory is set as the dedicated memory.
METHOD AND APPARATUS TO GENERATE ENCRYPTED CODES ASSOCIATED WITH A DOCUMENT
A multi-function device (MFD) is disclosed. For example, the MFD includes a communication interface to establish a communication path with a remote server, a user interface to receive a request to create an electronic file based on a scan of a document, a processor, and a non-transitory computer-readable medium storing a plurality of instructions. The instructions when executed by the processor cause the processor to scan the document to create the electronic file of the document, generate an encryption code associated with the electronic file of the document that is scanned, and transmit the electronic file to the remote server.
