Angled Faceplates for a network element
A module for a networking node is disclosed. The module includes a Printed Circuit Board (“PCB”); one or more circuits mounted to the PCB; and a faceplate that including a plurality of plates, angled relative to one another, such that the faceplate includes increased surface area relative to a substantially flat faceplate, wherein at least two plates of the plurality of plates include physical ports each having track lengths to a circuit of one or more circuits, wherein one or more of the physical ports support signals at a rate of at least 100 Gbps. Each plate of the plurality of plates can be flat. Any of the plurality of plates can include physical ports. The physical ports can be pluggable modules. Each type of the physical ports can be a same type on a given plate.
YIELD ENHANCEMENT TECHNIQUES FOR PHOTONIC COMMUNICATIONS PLATFORM
Described herein are techniques for yield enhancement in photonic communications platforms. A photonic communication platform may include a photonic substrate patterned with a plurality of photonic modules including at least first and second photonic modules, wherein the first and second photonic modules are copies of a common template photonic module. Yield enhancement may be accomplished using photonic redundancy and/or electronic redundancy. Photonic redundancy may involve redundant optical lanes provided in parallel to primary optical lanes. Electronic redundancy may involve use of additional electronic circuits or wires running in parallel to electronic circuits or wires. Defective circuits may be disabled to prevent negative impacts on other parts of the electronic system. This can be done by providing power-isolating switches that completely disable and isolate the defective circuits.
Apparatus with a controllable surface for underwater boundary flow
An apparatus including a controllable fluid-contacting surface is provided. In another aspect, the present apparatus includes a flexible membrane and multiple actuators each having an output shaft or activation member coupled to a water-contacting membrane, with the shafts extending in a direction offset from the nominal outer surface of the membrane. A further aspect of the present apparatus includes an underwater vessel including a propulsion source, a flexible membrane having a water-contacting outer surface and an electronic controller including programmable software for actuating the actuators.
Angled faceplates for a network element
A module for a networking node is disclosed. The module includes a Printed Circuit Board (“PCB”), one or more circuits mounted to the PCB and a faceplate. The faceplate includes a middle plate, a first side plate, and a second side plate. The first side plate extends from the middle plate at an obtuse angle relative to the middle plate towards a first side and back of the module. The second side plate extends from the middle plate, opposite to the first side plate, at an obtuse angle relative to the middle plate towards a second side and the back of the module.
Radio frequency subscriber drop units having printed circuit boards with ground plane layers and/or housings with ground walls
Radio frequency subscriber drop units include a housing having an input port and an output port and a printed circuit board mounted in an interior of the housing. The printed circuit board includes a dielectric layer, a wiring layer that includes conductive wirings that comprise at least part of a communications path between the input port and the output port that is on a first face of the dielectric layer, and a ground plane layer that includes a conductive ground plane that is on a second face of the dielectric layer.
Air gap system and method using out of band signaling
A method of communicating and securing data on a network with an air-gap device that includes switching of a first air-gap such that a second air-gap is generated between a second port and a first communication circuit to one or more devices, and such that a second operable connection is generated between a first communication circuit to the one or more devices and a third port. The air gap-device includes a first interface comprising a first port, the first interface being part of the first communication circuit to the one or more devices a second interface comprising the second port; a third interface comprising the third port; and a physical relay array block operably coupled to and corresponding to the first, second and third interfaces, with the physical relay array block configured for physical switching between a first and second configuration that generates the first and second switching.
Methods and apparatuses for path selection in a packet network
Embodiments including methods, systems, and apparatuses for distributing, processing, and reacting to path information distributed via a service-agnostic packet fabric for the purpose of enabling path selection are disclosed. By configuring two ingress line cards to send path quality words to each other via the switch fabric, compare the path quality words, and determine whether to transmit traffic to an egress line card via the switch fabric based on the comparison of the path quality words, the embodiments enable a central switch fabric to be unaware of the paths that it carries, and enable both ingress and egress bandwidth of the switch fabric to be sized according to the facilities for which it is terminating. The switch fabric does not need to support working and protection paths simultaneously in some embodiments, allowing it to be scaled appropriately to termination facilities.
