Secondary Cell-User Equipment Handovers
20230038861 · 2023-02-09 · ·

Techniques and apparatuses are described for secondary cell-user equipment (SC-UE) handovers. In aspects, a base station provides, as a primary cell, primary cell services to a first group of user equipments (UEs) in a first base station-user equipment dual connectivity (BUDC) group. In implementations, the base station determines to perform an SC-UE handover that disconnects a first UE from a first secondary cell-user equipment (SC-UE) that provides a first secondary cell to the first BUDC group and connects the first UE to a second SC-UE that provides a second secondary cell to a second BUDC group. The base station directs the first SC-UE to release the first UE from the first BUDC group, and communicates, as the primary cell, control-plane information or user-plane data with one or more UEs in the first group of UEs that remain in the first BUDC group.

SYSTEM AND METHODS TO PROVIDE AERIAL BACKHAUL CONNECTIVITY TO TERRESTRIAL BASE STATIONS

Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, a device detecting a disruption in a backhaul network and connecting to an aerial device to establish an alternate backhaul connection. The device may incorporate all or a portion of a terrestrial base station and may tilt one or more antenna beams skyward to search for the aerial device. The device may then relay communications from user equipment to the aerial device. Other embodiments are disclosed.

NON-TERRESTRIAL NETWORK COMMUNICATION METHOD AND APPARATUS

This application provides a non-terrestrial network (non-terrestrial network, NTN) communication method and an apparatus, to resolve the following problem: When performing a delay-sensitive communication service, UE may select a cell covered by a satellite since the UE cannot distinguish between a cell covered by a terrestrial base station and the cell covered by the satellite. The method includes: A first network device determines cell type information of a cell covered by a second network device, where the cell type information indicates that the cell is a terrestrial network communication cell or a non-terrestrial network communication cell; and the first network device sends the cell type information to a third network device.

COMMUNICATION METHOD AND APPARATUS

A communication method and apparatus are provided, and relate to the field of wireless communication technologies, to resolve a problem in a conventional technology that communication quality during communication between a satellite and a communication apparatus cannot be ensured, and to ensure security of high-accuracy location information of the satellite. In the method, the communication apparatus may perform random access to the satellite based on first location information. The communication apparatus may perform uplink communication with the satellite based on obtained second location information. Accuracy of a location obtained based on the second location information is higher than accuracy of a location obtained based on the first location information. Based on this solution, required accuracy of location information of the satellite is different.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS TO MINIMIZE HANDOVER INTERRUPTION TIME

Satellite communication systems and methods are disclosed herein. In an embodiment, a satellite communication system includes a user terminal and a gateway. The user terminal includes a terminal antenna and a terminal controller. The terminal antenna enables the user terminal to communicate via each of a first satellite and a second satellite. The gateway includes a gateway antenna and a gateway controller. The gateway antenna enables the gateway to communicate with the user terminal via each of the first satellite and the second satellite. At least one of the terminal controller and the gateway controller is configured to adjust a queue management policy during a handover operation from the first satellite to the second satellite.

COMMUNICATION DEVICE, NON-GEOSTATIONARY SATELLITE, GROUND STATION, AND COMMUNICATION METHOD
20230189107 · 2023-06-15 · ·

A communication device is a communication device that communicates with at least one of a plurality of ground stations via a non-geostationary satellite, and includes: an acquisition unit that acquires predetermined information necessary for switching a connection destination ground station in advance before switching processing; and a communication control unit that switches the connection destination ground station based on the predetermined information.

CELL RESELECTION METHOD AND STORAGE MEDIUM

Cell reselection methods, a terminal, a network equipment, and a non-transitory computer-readable storage medium are provided. The method includes: receiving indication information, where the indication information is configured to indicate the priorities of respective network types; and performing cell reselection based on the indication information.

Low latency schedule-driven handovers

Systems, methods, and non-transitory media are provided for low latency handovers. An example method can include receiving, by a user terminal associated with a cell served by a satellite, a schedule of communications between the user terminal and one or more satellites; requesting, based on the schedule, a handover from a beam of the satellite to a different beam of one of the satellite or a different satellite; processing packets transmitted over the beam of the satellite and/or the different beam of the one of the satellite or the different satellite; performing the handover from the beam of the satellite to the different beam of the one of the satellite or the different satellite; and after the handover, transmitting, by the user terminal, one or more packets via the different beam of the one of the satellite or the different satellite.

MODIFIED HANDOVER PROCEDURES FOR EARTH FIXED AND EARTH MOBILE BEAMS

A user equipment (UE), next generation NodeB (gNB), or other network component can operate to configure a group configuration message that initiates a plurality of UEs in a coverage area of a non-terrestrial network (NTN) to concurrently transfer communication from a first beam of a first satellite to a second beam of a second satellite. The communications of one or more UEs can be re-directed to the second beam of the second satellite based on downlink control information of the group configuration message.

ENHANCEMENT IN NTN MOBILITY

Apparatuses, systems, and methods for enhancement in NTN mobility. A cellular base station may serve as a source base station of a handover procedure from the source base station to a target non-terrestrial network (NTN) base station. The cellular base station may configure a parameter associated with the target NTN base station in a handover command, the parameter being related to NTN mobility, and send the handover command to a wireless device for use by the wireless device during the handover procedure. The wireless device may receive the handover command from the cellular base station, and perform the handover procedure using the parameter associated with the target NTN base station.
