TUNNEL INITIATION IN A COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK

One aspect provides a method performed by a radio access network node in a telecommunications network. The method comprises: responsive to detection of a trigger event associated with a wireless device having a connection to the telecommunications network via the radio access network node or seeking to establish a connection to the telecommunications network via the radio access network node, transmitting, directly to a user plane core network node, a message initiating establishment of a user-plane tunnel for the connection between the radio access network node and the user plane core network node. The message comprises one or more of: an indication of an identifier of the wireless device; and an indication of an identifier of a session for the wireless device, and further comprises an indication of a downlink tunnel endpoint identifier of the radio access network node.

Communication apparatus capable of wireless communication with external apparatus, control method therefor, and storage medium storing program for executing control method

A communication apparatus is provided that establishes a wireless LAN communication by handover. The communication apparatus communicates with an external apparatus through a first communication path. The communication apparatus includes a storage unit that store a communication parameter used for communicating with the external apparatus through a second communication path, a communication establishment control unit that performs control to establish communication with the external apparatus through the second communication path using the communication parameter stored, and a communication parameter change control unit that performs control to change the communication parameter stored in the external apparatus that establishes communication through the second communication path. The communication parameter change control unit prohibits change of the communication parameter stored in the external apparatus that establishes communication through the second communication path when the communication through the second communication path is established by switching from communication through the first communication path.

METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR SUPPORTING STANDALONE LOCAL GATEWAY SERVICE FOR DUAL CONNECTIVITY IN WIRELESS COMMUNICATION SYSTEM
20180007536 · 2018-01-04 · ·

A method and apparatus for transmitting a local home network identity (LHN ID) in a wireless communication system is provided. A first evolved NodeB (eNB) transmits an X2 Setup Request message including a LHN ID of the first eNB to a second eNB, and receives an X2 Setup Response message including a LHN ID of the second eNB from the second eNB. The first eNB may determine whether or not to trigger a secondary eNB (SeNB) addition procedure according to the LHN ID of the second eNB. When it is determined that the LHN ID of the second eNB is the same as the LHN ID of the first eNB, the first eNB may trigger the SeNB addition procedure.

METHOD AND APPARATUS SUPPORTING LOCAL BREAKOUT IN A DUAL-CONNECTIVITY ARCHITECTURE

The present disclosure relates to a pre-5.sup.th-Generation (5G) or 5G communication system to be provided for supporting higher data rates Beyond 4.sup.th-Generation (4G) communication system such as Long Term Evolution (LTE). The present disclosure provides a method of de-activating a local internet protocol access (LIPA) bearer supporting local breakout in a dual-connectivity architecture. When a master eNodeB (MeNB) determines to change a secondary eNodeB (SeNB) serving a user equipment (UE) or hand the UE over from the MeNB to an eNB, the MeNB may trigger a LIPA bearer de-activation process, and then trigger the process of change the SeNB serving the UE or hand the UE over from the MeNB to the eNB. Various examples also provide another method and an apparatus for de-activating a LIPA bearer, for bearer switch, for establishing a LIPA bearer. The methods and apparatus can establish, switch and correctly release local breakout bearer in a dual-connectivity architecture, so as to reduce the load of a core network of an operator.

User plane relocation

Systems, methods, and instrumentalities are disclosed for an access control and mobility management function (AMF) node, comprising a processor configured to receive a N2 session management (SM) information from a session management function (SMF) node, wherein the N2 SM information indicates an available area for N2 information, receive a service request from a wireless transmit receive unit (WTRU), determine whether to update the N2 SM information based on a location of the WTRU and the available area for N2 information, wherein if the WTRU is outside of the available area for N2 information, the processor is configured to request a second N2 SM information from the SMF node and update the N2 SM information with the second N2 SM information, and send an N2 request with the N2 SM information to an access network associated with the WTRU. The available area for N2 information may be one or more of a user plane function (UPF) node serving area, a WTRU tracking area, or a radio access network (RAN) cell coverage area.
