20230232333 · 2023-07-20 ·

The disclosure provides a control method for network disconnection during screen off and a mobile device. The control method is applicable to a mobile device, and includes: setting a network restriction list based on a plurality of applications of the mobile device, where an application run in a background in the applications is excluded from the network restriction list; determining, based on a system status of the mobile device, whether the system status meets a trigger condition, where the trigger condition is that a screen of the mobile device is off for more than a preset time, and there is no external power supply; and starting a network disconnection mechanism when the trigger condition is met, to restrict network connections of the applications in the network restriction list, and maintaining the network connections when the trigger condition is not met.

Methods, Systems, and Computer Program Products for Enabling an Operative Coupling to a Network
20230224207 · 2023-07-13 ·

Methods and systems are described for enabling an operative coupling to a network. In use, first data is received at a first node in a first network. The first data is forwarded between the first node to a second node in a second network, using a network relay. Additionally it is determined that a specified decoupling condition is met, and subsequent to forwarding the first data and in response to determining that the decoupling condition is met, the second operative coupling is disabled while the first operative coupling remains enabled for receiving second data for forwarding.

ENABLE USER EQUIPMENT POSITIONING THROUGH PAGING
20230224850 · 2023-07-13 ·

Techniques are provided for positioning of user equipment (UE) with paging messages. An example method for positioning a user equipment with paging messages includes receiving a positioning paging message with a user equipment in an idle state, measuring positioning measurements in response to receiving the positioning paging message, determining location information based at least in part on the positioning measurements, and transmitting the location information via a random access procedure.

OPTIMIZING MOBILE NETWORK TRAFFIC COORDINATION ACROSS MULTIPLE APPLICATIONS RUNNING ON A MOBILE DEVICE
20230224815 · 2023-07-13 ·

A mobile device allows transmission of additional outgoing application data requests in response to occurrence of receipt of data transfer from a remote entity, user input in response to a prompt displayed to the user, and a change in a background status of an application executing on the mobile device. Additional outgoing application data requests are foreground application requests.

Phone user interface

An electronic device having a user interface for accessing phone features. The user interface accounts for whether the electronic device is connected to a companion cellular phone. The user interface accounts for a headset is available for use to carry on a call. The user interface permits transition between using one or more of cellular phone, headset, and/or the electronic device to be used for carrying on incoming or outgoing calls.

ANTENNA PANEL MANAGEMENT

Aspects and embodiments relate to an apparatus and method for performing antenna panel management. There is provided an apparatus comprising: means for obtaining signal reception information related to at least one downlink signal received by a user equipment using at least one reception antenna panel of a plurality of selectively-activatable antenna panels; means for determining an indication of effective power radiatable to the network node from which the downlink signal is received, based on the signal reception information related to the at least one downlink signal received by that to antenna panel for each of the plurality of selectively-activatable antenna panels which is configurable to transmit a signal to a network node from which the downlink signal is received; means for calculating an indication of power consumption associated with the indication of effective power radiatable to the network node for each of the plurality of selectively-activatable antenna panels; and means for selecting and configuring at least one of the selectively-activatable antenna panels to be used for transmission of a signal to a network node from which the downlink signal is received in response to the calculated indication of power consumption. Aspects support appropriate power efficient operation of a communication apparatus, for example by allowing for differentiated uplink and downlink antenna panel selection, which can enable apparatus power saving, whilst minimising performance loss, or incurring no significant performance loss.

IDLE MODE PROCESSING METHOD, USER EQUIPMENT AND CHIP
20230008354 · 2023-01-12 ·

An idle mode processing method executable in a user equipment (UE) is provided, and includes: determining a UE mobility state of the UE; applying a speed scaling factor associated with a low mobility state of the UE to an idle mode processing parameter in response to the UE is in the low mobility state, the idle mode processing parameter is utilized for a criterion for triggering a specific idle mode operation in the idle mode, and the low mobility state is a state where a speed of the UE is lower than a first speed threshold; and adjusting the criterion using the speed scaling factor to delay or skip execution of the specific idle mode operation.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR WIRELESS DEVICE MODES

Disclosed herein are systems and methods for facilitating wireless communication of a wearable device. In one aspect, a wireless device receives a paging message from a cellular network, via a wireless link between the wireless device and a companion device. The paging message can be received while a cellular modem of the wireless device is operating in reduced power mode and not registered with the cellular network, and the companion device is registered with the cellular network. The wireless device can transition the cellular modem from the reduced power mode to an active mode in response to receiving the paging message via the wireless link with the companion device. The wireless device can register with the cellular network after the modem has transitioned to active mode, to establish a cellular link directly with the cellular network.

Managing power consumption of a network

Examples provided herein describe a method for managing power consumption of a network. For example, a network device may monitor a set of network area zones of a network coverage area, where each network area zone is associated with a set of edge devices. A first occupancy state may be determined for a first network area zone of the set of network area zones based on usage of a first set of edge devices of the first network area zone. Based on the determined first occupancy state, a first power consumption policy for the first network area zone may be determined. Responsive to determining the first power consumption policy, the determined first power consumption policy may be applied to the first set of edge devices in the first network area zone at least edge changing a power consumption mode of a first edge device in the first set of edge devices.
