Method and apparatus for a power-efficient framework to maintain data synchronization of a mobile personal computer to simulate a connected scenario
An apparatus and method for a power-efficient framework to maintain data synchronization of a mobile personal computer (MPC) are described. In one embodiment, the method includes the detection of a data synchronization wakeup event while the MPC is operating according to a sleep state. Subsequent to wakeup event, at least one system resource is disabled to provide a minimum number of system resources required to re-establish a network connection. In one embodiment, user data from a network server is synchronized on the MPC without user intervention; the mobile platform system resumes operation according to the sleep state. In one embodiment, a wakeup alarm is programmed according to a user history profile regarding received e-mails. In a further embodiment, data synchronizing involves disabling a display, and throttling the system processor to operate at a reduced frequency. Other embodiments are described and claimed.
Electronic apparatus, method for controlling the same, and storage medium
There is provided an electronic apparatus that enables a line-of-sight detection function at an appropriate timing, thereby achieving power saving, for example. The line-of-sight detection function can be enabled with less power consumption. The electronic apparatus includes at least one memory and at least one processor which function as a line-of-sight detection unit configured to detect a line-of-sight position based on a line-of-sight of a user, and a control unit configured to perform control so that, in a state where a first content is displayed on a display unit, the line-of-sight detection unit detects the line-of-sight position of the user in response to a second content being displayed on the display unit, wherein the second content is to be displayed together with the first content.
A DOCKING SYSTEM
A method of determining which of at least two connected mobile devices is to function as a host device, wherein the mobile devices first determine which of them is to act as an initial host device and which is to act as an initial peripheral device. The initial host device then receives instructions from a user as to which of the mobile devices is to be the host device. If the instructions indicate that the initial host device is to be the host device, the initial host device controls, as host device, the initial peripheral device as a peripheral device, and if the instructions indicate that the initial peripheral device is to be the host device, the initial host device passes control to the initial peripheral device to enable the initial peripheral device to control, as host device, the initial host device as a peripheral device.
Method and apparatus for reducing power consumption in mobile device
A method and apparatus capable of minimizing power consumption occurring when a mobile device is changed from a sleep state to a wake-up state by partially controlling on/off of a display unit and partial booting control of a system function are provided. The method includes detecting a change of the mobile device from a sleep state to a wake-up state, turning on a display unit of the mobile device such that a first section of the mobile device displays an operating region, the first section including one or more portions of the display unit and less than an entire screen of the display unit and waiting for a system function registered in the operating region.
Phone user interface
An electronic device having a user interface for accessing phone features. The user interface accounts for whether the electronic device is connected to a companion cellular phone. The user interface accounts for a headset is available for use to carry on a call. The user interface permits transition between using one or more of cellular phone, headset, and/or the electronic device to be used for carrying on incoming or outgoing calls.
Activating display and performing additional function in mobile terminal with one-time user input
A mobile terminal includes a touch screen display, a camera, a power button and an activation button for turning on the touch screen display. The mobile terminal has a first function and a second function to perform in response to user input and provides user settings for configuring at least one of the first and second functions such that the at least one of the first and second functions is performed along with turning on the touch screen display when pressing of the activation button is detected while the touch screen display is turned off. The mobile terminal is configured to perform the first and second functions depending upon length of pressing of the activation button in addition to turning on the touch screen display.
RESCUE SYSTEM
In emergency or search-and-rescue operations, user devices such as phones may transmit signals that indicate people may be located nearby. The signals can be detected by one or more rover devices, which can explore dangerous terrain for indications of people to be rescued. The user devices can activate an application that conserves battery power while emitting a signal, in some cases in a round robin configuration to further conserve power. The rover devices, or other devices that make contact with the user devices, can collect and manipulate data about the user devices to aid a rescue operation.
Brightness adjustment method and device, and storage medium
The present disclosure relates to a brightness adjustment method and device, and a storage medium. The method can include detecting a brightness of an environment where a mobile terminal is located to acquire a brightness value. When a decrease of the brightness value acquired at a present moment relative to the brightness value acquired at a previous moment reaches a first preset value, a radar wave is transmitted, and an echo of the radar wave is detected. The method determines whether there is an occlusion causing the decrease of the acquired brightness value according to a transmitting parameter of the radar wave and an echo parameter of the echo. When there is no occlusion, display brightness of the mobile terminal is adjusted according to the brightness value acquired at the present moment. When the occlusion is present, the display brightness of the mobile terminal at the present moment is maintained.
Near field communications activated door access panel
Disclosed herein is an access control apparatus for a barrier movement system that moves a barrier. The access control apparatus includes a near field communications (NFC) module, a radiofrequency (RF) module, and a controller coupled to the NFC module and RF module. The controller is configured to read an NFC signal from an authenticated external device, via the NFC module. In response to reading the NFC signal, the controller transmits a command signal, via the RF module, that commands the barrier movement system to move the barrier.
DISPLAY DEVICE AND DRIVING METHOD THEREOF
A display device is described including a display panel for displaying an image and an input sensing unit disposed on the display panel for sensing a user input. The input sensing unit includes: an electrode unit including first electrodes and second electrodes which intersect each other and a control unit for determining the proximity of an object or the shape of the object, based on capacitance change values of the first electrodes and the second electrodes. In a first mode the input sensing unit is driven using a self-capacitance method. The control unit may merge the capacitance change values, and determine the proximity of the object based on the merged value. In a second mode based on mutual capacitance, the control unit may determine the shape of the object.
