Embodiments are included for providing an energy efficient lighting system that includes one or several luminaires. According to certain aspects, when an area covered by the luminaires is vacant, the light level in the area is measured while the luminaires are on and set to a low dim level. The measured light level is used to approximate the amount of natural light in the area and when the measured light level exceeds a predetermined nonzero light level, the luminaires are turned off for a certain time period. Once the time period expires, the light level is measured again to approximate the amount of natural light present in the area.

Measurement assembly and positioning system

A measurement assembly includes a first light emitter set including a plurality of light emitters arranged at equal intervals in a first direction, the light emitters emitting lights with frequencies different from one another; a light receiver disposed on an object under measurement and configured to receive incident lights from the light emitter set; and a position determination unit configured to determine a first current position of the object under measurement according to frequencies of incident lights currently received by the light receiver from the first light emitter set.

An IPL apparatus utilizing a Pulse Forming Network (PFN) for generating a plurality of light pulse sequences, comprising a treatment unit comprising one or more lamps adapted to emit a plurality of light pulses towards a treatment face of the IPL apparatus, a PFN and a control unit adapted to operate the PFN to generate a regulated energized pulse driven to the lamp(s). The regulated energized pulse having a desired multi-level voltage waveform with a maximum voltage level and a minimum voltage level which is in a range of 30-50 percent of the maximum voltage level. Rapidly varying heat is induced by a sequence of the plurality of light pulses emitted by the lamp(s) according to the multi-level voltage waveform.

In an example, a light control system includes a power converter, a light source, a sensor, and a control device. The power converter can convert an input power received from a power source to a supply power, and includes a power factor corrector (PFC) configured to adjustably control an electrical parameter of the supply power. The light source can, using the supply power, emit light at an intensity related to the electrical parameter. The sensor can sense a condition related to operation of the light source. The control device is communicatively coupled to the PFC and the sensor, and configured to: (i) receive, from the sensor, a sensor signal indicating an input parameter related to the condition, and (ii) based on sensor signal, provide a feedback signal to the PFC to cause the PFC to adjust, based on the input parameter, the electrical parameter of the supply power.

In an example, a power factor corrector (PFC) including a first PFC input, a second PFC input, and a PFC output. The first PFC input is configured to receive an input power from a power source. The second PFC input is configured to receive a signal from a feedback circuit. The PFC output configured to output a direct current (DC) power, which is based on the input power at the first PFC input and the signal at the second PFC input. The feedback circuit is coupled to the PFC output and the second PFC input. The feedback circuit is configured to provide the signal at the second PFC input based on an input parameter related to a condition that is sensible by a sensor. The condition is related to operation of a load.
