ELECTROMAGNETIC WAVE GENERATING SYSTEM AND HEATING DEVICE WITH ELECTROMAGNETIC WAVE GENERATING SYSTEM
Disclosed are an electromagnetic wave generating system and a heating device. The electromagnetic wave generating system includes an electromagnetic generating module, a radiating assembly and a matching unit connected in series between the electromagnetic generating module and the radiating assembly. The electromagnetic generating module is configured to generate an electromagnetic wave signal. The radiating assembly includes one or more radiating units and is configured to be electrically connected with the electromagnetic generating module to generate electromagnetic waves of a corresponding frequency according to the electromagnetic wave signal. The matching unit includes a first matching module. The first matching module includes a plurality of fixed value inductors connected in series between the electromagnetic generating module and the radiating assembly, and a plurality of parallel branches, wherein each parallel branch of the first matching module includes a fixed value capacitor and a switch connected in series. The input ends of the plurality of parallel branches of the first matching module are respectively connected in series between two adjacent inductors and between an end inductor and the radiating assembly, and the output ends thereof are all configured to be grounded, so as to match a load more accurately after receiving an adjusting command

An apparatus and method for electromagnetic heating of a hydrocarbon formation. The apparatus includes an electrical power source; at least one electromagnetic wave generator for generating alternating current; at least two transmission line conductors positioned in the hydrocarbon formation; at least one waveguide for carrying the alternating current from the at least one electromagnetic wave generator to the at least two transmission line conductors; and a producer well to receive heated hydrocarbons from the hydrocarbon formation. The transmission line conductors are excitable by the alternating current to propagate a travelling wave within the hydrocarbon formation. At least one of the transmission line conductors include a primary arm and at least one secondary arm extending laterally from the primary arm. The at least one secondary arm includes at least one electrically isolatable connection for electrically isolating at least a portion of the secondary arm.

CABLE ARRANGEMENT FOR HEATING SYSTEM
A system includes an RF signal source configured to output an RF signal at a first frequency, and a first controller configured to generate a first data signal encoding instructions at a second frequency. A first filter is coupled to the RF signal source. The first filter is a low pass filter having a cutoff frequency between the first frequency and the second frequency. The first filter is configured to couple to a first end of a cable. A second filter is coupled to the first controller. The second filter is a high pass filter having a cutoff frequency between the first frequency and the second frequency. The second filter is configured to couple to the first end of the cable. The system includes an impedance matching network configured to couple to a second end of the cable. A first electrode is coupled to the impedance matching network.

The apparatus is a radio frequency antenna module in a radio frequency antenna for delivering electromagnetic energy generated by a generator into the hydrocarbon formation. The antenna module comprises: a conductive member; at least one conductive sheath with a first and second end surrounding at least one portion of the conductive member; at least one electrical coupler electrically coupled to the conductive member and the at least one conductive sheath for receiving the electrical energy; and an electrically insulating seal inserted at the first and second end of each of the at least one conductive sheath between the conductive member and the conductive sheath to maintain an enclosed cavity defined by the conductive member, the conductive sheath and the electrically insulating seal.

An apparatus and method for electromagnetic heating of a hydrocarbon formation is presented. The apparatus is a radio frequency antenna module in a radio frequency antenna for delivering electromagnetic energy generated by a generator into the hydrocarbon formation. The antenna module comprises: a conductive member; at least one conductive sheath with a first and second end surrounding at least one portion of the conductive member; at least one electrical coupler electrically coupled to the conductive member and the at least one conductive sheath for receiving the electrical energy; and an electrically insulating seal inserted at the first and second end of each of the at least one conductive sheath between the conductive member and the conductive sheath to maintain an enclosed cavity defined by the conductive member, the conductive sheath and the electrically insulating seal.
APPARATUS AND METHODS FOR ELECTROMAGNETIC HEATING OF HYDROCARBON FORMATIONS
An apparatus and method for electromagnetic heating of a hydrocarbon formation. The method involves providing electrical power to at least one electromagnetic wave generator for generating high frequency alternating current; using the electromagnetic wave generator to generate high frequency alternating current; using at least one pipe to define at least one of at least two transmission line conductors; coupling the transmission line conductors to the electromagnetic wave generator; and applying the high frequency alternating current to excite the transmission line conductors. The excitation of the transmission line conductors can propagate an electromagnetic wave within the hydrocarbon formation. In some embodiments, the method further comprises determining that a hydrocarbon formation between the transmission line conductors is at least substantially desiccated; and applying a radiofrequency electromagnetic current to excite the transmission line conductors. The radiofrequency electromagnetic current radiates to a hydrocarbon formation surrounding the transmission line conductors.
APPARATUS AND METHODS FOR ELECTROMAGNETIC HEATING OF HYDROCARBON FORMATIONS
An apparatus and method for electromagnetic heating of a hydrocarbon formation.
