Solid state transducer devices with independently controlled regions, and associated systems and methods are disclosed. A solid state transducer device in accordance with a particular embodiment includes a transducer structure having a first semiconductor material, a second semiconductor material and an active region between the first and second semiconductor materials, the active region including a continuous portion having a first region and a second region. A first contact is electrically connected to the first semiconductor material to direct a first electrical input to the first region along a first path, and a second contact electrically spaced apart from the first contact and connected to the first semiconductor material to direct a second electrical input to the second region along a second path different than the first path. A third electrical contact is electrically connected to the second semiconductor material.

A light emitting diode chip includes: a first conductive type semiconductor layer disposed on a substrate; a mesa disposed on the first conductive type semiconductor layer and including an active layer and a second conductive type semiconductor layer; an insulation layer covering the first conductive type semiconductor layer and the mesa, the insulation layer including at least one first opening exposing the first conductive type semiconductor layer and a second opening disposed on the mesa; a first pad electrode disposed on the insulation layer and electrically connected to the first conductive type semiconductor layer through the first opening; and a second pad electrode disposed on the insulation layer and electrically connected to the second conductive type semiconductor layer through the second opening. The first opening of the insulation layer includes a first region covered by the first pad electrode and a second region exposed outside the first pad electrode.
ELECTRIC FIELD CONTROL ELEMENT FOR PHONONS
Generally discussed herein are techniques for and systems and apparatuses configured to control phonons using an electric field. In one or more embodiments, an apparatus can include electrical contacts, two quantum dots embedded in a semiconductor such that when an electrical bias is applied to the electrical contacts, the electric field produced by the electrical bias is substantially parallel to an axis through the two quantum dots, and a phononic wave guide coupled to the semiconductor, the phononic wave guide configured to transport phonons therethrough.
II-VI BASED LIGHT EMITTING SEMICONDUCTOR DEVICE
The invention provides a light emitting semiconductor device comprising a zinc magnesium oxide based layer as active layer, wherein the zinc magnesium oxide based layer comprises an aluminum doped zinc magnesium oxide layer having the nominal composition Zn.sub.1-xMg.sub.xO with 1-350 ppm Al, wherein x is in the range of 0<x0.3. The invention further provides a method for the production of such aluminum doped zinc magnesium oxide, the method comprising heat treating a composition comprising Zn, Mg and Al with a predetermined composition at elevated temperatures, and subsequently annealing the heat treated composition to provide said aluminum doped zinc magnesium oxide.

Generally discussed herein are techniques for and systems and apparatuses configured to control phonons using an electric field. Nitride semiconductor device
A nitride semiconductor device includes a transistor having a semiconductor stacked body formed on a substrate, and a pn light-emitting body formed on the semiconductor stacked body. The semiconductor stacked body includes a first nitride semiconductor layer, and a second nitride semiconductor layer formed on the first nitride semiconductor layer and having a bandgap wider than that of the first nitride semiconductor layer. The transistor includes: the semiconductor stacked body; a source electrode and a drain electrode formed away from each other on the semiconductor stacked body; and a gate electrode provided between the source electrode and the drain electrode and formed away from the source electrode and the drain electrode. The pn light-emitting body includes a p-type nitride semiconductor layer and an n-type nitride semiconductor layer to emit a light beam having an energy value higher than an electron trapping level existing in the semiconductor stacked body, in which the p-type nitride semiconductor layer of the pn light-emitting body is electrically connected to the gate electrode, and functions as a gate of the transistor.
Method for producing light emitting semiconductor device
Method for producing a light emitting semiconductor device comprising a zinc magnesium oxide based layer as active layer, wherein the zinc magnesium oxide based layer comprises an aluminum doped zinc magnesium oxide layer having the nominal composition Zn.sub.1-xMg.sub.xO with 1-350 ppm Al, wherein x is in the range of 0<x0.3. The invention further provides a method for the production of such aluminum doped zinc magnesium oxide, the method comprising heat treating a composition comprising Zn, Mg and Al with a predetermined composition at elevated temperatures, and subsequently annealing the heat treated composition to provide said aluminum doped zinc magnesium oxide.
COMPACT LIGHT EMITTING DIODE CHIP AND LIGHT EMITTING DEVICE INCLUDING THE SAME
