Ballast water treatment apparatus and ballast water treatment system

A ballast water treatment apparatus and a ballast water treatment system having a ballast water treatment apparatus are provided. The ballast water treatment apparatus includes a ballast water transport line configured to transport ballast water between a first location and a second location, the transported ballast water being passed through at least one injector, and a plasma generation device configured to be fed with a feed gas optionally comprising oxygen, and configured to generate a feed gas plasma by a streamer type discharge in a discharge area to provide a treated gas at a treated-gas outlet. The injector includes a liquid passage having an area constructed such as to increase a velocity of the passed-through water in a region of increased velocity, and an injector gas inlet provided in the region of increased velocity. The treated-gas outlet is in gaseous connection with the injector gas inlet.

METHOD FOR REMEDIATING WATER SOURCES AND MIXTURES FORMED FROM THE SAME

Described herein is a method of remediating a water source of a target aquatic life. The method comprises collecting at least one target species of aquatic life from a water source, separating an oil from the solids of the target aquatic life, and refining a polyunsaturated fatty acid (PUFA) mixture from the oil. The water source is at least partially remediated by collecting the at least one target species of aquatic life from the water source.

A method of disrupting the normal behavior and natural development cycle of wood-boring insects by applying mechanical vibrations and detecting wood-boring insects by monitoring their vibration patterns.

Animal Sensing System
20230217903 · 2023-07-13 · ·

Animal sensing systems and methods are described. An animal sensing system can include an input section with an entrance and an output section having at least two output paths each having its own exit. An animal can enter the animal sensing system through the entrance. A sensor within a sensing area of the input section can detect one or more characteristics of the animal, and can communicate the detected characteristic(s) to a central processing unit. The central processing unit can use the received data to classify the animal based on the detected characteristic(s), and then control a directional guide, such as a gate, in the animal sensing system on the basis of the classification, so as to direct the animal within the animal sensing system, such as to allow access to only one of the output paths at a time. The animal may thus be allowed to exit the animal sensing system through only one output path, directing the animal to a desired location based on the classification.

PROACTIVE DETECTION OF INVASIVE SPECIES

A system may include a memory and a processor in communication with the memory. The processor may be configured to perform operations to accept ecosystem data and detect, analyze, and notify a user about a species in an environment. The system analysis and notification may include impact determination of the species on the environment and shall learn from the received and analyzed data, bringing intelligence to the system.

Watercraft with battery ballast system
11572140 · 2023-02-07 · ·

A watercraft comprising a battery ballast system is shown and described. The battery ballast system comprises a plurality of carriage assemblies, each comprising a plurality of tiers along the watercraft's height axis, and each being movable along the watercraft's length axis. The batteries sit on movable supports that are movable along the watercraft's width axis. Each tier is loaded to less than 50 percent with batteries and battery supports so that the batteries in each tier can be moved along the ship's width axis relative to the hull in a manner that will affect the ship's list. The carriage assemblies occupy a portion of the length along which they are movable so that they can be moved along the ship's length axis relative to the hull to affect the ship's trim. In certain examples, the ship's potable water system is used to change the watercraft's total amount of ballast by changing the total volume of treated water on board such as by expelling treated water overboard or changing the rate of untreated water being fed to the potable water system.

TARGETED CHEMICAL DELIVERY CAPSULE

An ingestible drug delivery system that allows targeted drug delivery to large snakes and reptiles while passing through mammals without delivering the drug via the difference in digestion resistance times between snakes and mammals. A crush resistant shell prevents the drug from being released prematurely by the chewing action of the mammal.

Liquid Complex Fertilizer and Methods of Making the Same

A vine removal device may include a shaft connected to a hook with a pocket. An actuation mechanism, such as a line connected to a user's belt, can actuate a movable jaw having a jaw projection configured to at least partly fit within the pocket. The hook has blade that supports a vine slide surface that facilitates collection of vines in the pocket where they can be gripped by the projection of the movable jaw. The blade may employ a surface skimmer to limit how deep the blade can penetrate the soil.
