BACK-UP GENERATOR AND ASSOCIATED ELECTRIC POWER SYSTEMS
An electric power system is disclosed herein. The electric power system may manage and store electric power and provide uninterrupted electric power, derived from a plurality of electric power sources, to an electric load. The electric power system may contain an energy storage unit and generator assembly. The electric power system may connect to a power grid and renewable energy sources, and may charge the energy storage unit using the power grid, renewable energy sources, and/or generator assembly. The electric power system may be configured to determine load power usage and environmental factors to automatically and continuously modify a charging protocol to, for example, provide high efficiency and/or self-sufficiency from the power grid. The electric power system may operate entirely off-grid and may provide electricity to the load without interruption to power.
Energy Recovery System
A combined heat and power system, or an energy system, is provided. A four-stroke opposed-piston engine provides efficient power from a generator set or genset. A heat exchange system is provided within the energy system to provide efficient waste heat recovery as the engine is operated.
Heat pump system utilizing domestic water
An exemplary system is for a facility including a first heating/cooling zone and a water delivery system configured to deliver domestic water to a point of water use. The system generally includes a facility loop having a facility loop refrigerant flowing therethrough, a first zone heat pump configured to transfer thermal energy between the facility loop refrigerant and the first heating/cooling zone, and a first water-source heat pump configured to transfer thermal energy between domestic water upstream of the point of water use and the facility loop refrigerant.
Liquid Heating Appliance
A liquid heating appliance for heating water or other liquids, suitably to a target temperature of from 55° C. to around boiling point, includes a primary heat chamber or body (heat source chamber) that is thermally insulated and which in use contains a high thermal density heat storing liquid or solid; and a secondary chamber alongside the primary chamber through which a liquid to be heated is passed in use. The appliance has a heat transfer feature to selectively transfer thermal energy from the heat-storing liquid or solid to the liquid to be heated in the secondary chamber. The secondary chamber is preferably a conduit through which the liquid to be heated is able to flow and the thus heated liquid can be delivered to a tap as hot water for a range of uses. Water may also be heated for a central heating system for space heating.
Heating system—modular
A boiler unit comprises an enclosure including: a first circuit of a first fluid heat exchange medium, the first circuit having a heating device to heat the first medium, a boost heat exchanger, a valve and a first manifold; a second circuit of a second heating system fluid heat exchange medium, the second circuit having a flow and return port of the boiler unit, a second manifold and said boost heat exchanger for exchange of heat between said first and second heat exchanger media when said valve is open; a space in the enclosure receiving an auxiliary unit to be driven substantially exclusively by said first fluid heat exchange medium; and a boiler control unit to control operation of the heating device according to heat demand of the heating device and otherwise irrespective of the auxiliary unit when connected; and an organic rankine cycle (ORC) unit comprising: a third fluid heat exchange medium circuit, the circuit including a condenser adapted for connection to said second manifold to provide heat to said second circuit, a pump to circulate said third medium, an evaporator adapted for connection to said first manifold to heat said third medium and a rotary expander connected to an electricity generator; and an auxiliary control unit to control the ORC unit and operate said valve.
District public water supply pipe network system compatible for source side water for ground source heat pump system and reclaomed water
A district public water supply pipe network system compatible for ground source heat pump water and reclaimed water comprises a water supply main pipe connected with a reclaimed water outlet side of a sewage treatment system and connected to a plurality of energy stations and a plurality of transmission and distribution station, and a return water main pipe arranged between the adjacent energy stations to connect them. The energy stations are provided with a plurality of shallow geothermal heat exchange system for exchanging heat with shallow geothermal energy in the region. Both the energy stations and the transmission and distribution station are connected with corresponding distribution pipe networks connected with a user terminal water supply system. The system provides the source side water and the reclaimed water to users. It is a district public geothermal pipe network and a reclaimed water pipe network.
System for energy recovery and cleaning of heat exchangers in shower applications
A system is provided for heat recovery from shower greywater. An outlet for greywater is connected to a heat exchanger's inlet for greywater and the heat exchanger is designed so that a cold supply water flows in the opposite direction through the heat exchanger relative to the relatively hot greywater, so that heat exchange works under a counterflow principle and heat energy is transferred from the hot greywater to the cold supply water. A manifold having a nozzle outlet for hot supply water is connected to a waste pipe so that the manifold nozzle outlet for hot supply water opens into the waste pipe at a position downstream of the waste pipe inlet for greywater but upstream of the waste pipe outlet for greywater.
HEAT STORING AND HEAT TRANSFER SYSTEMS
A heat storage and transfer system incorporates a primary heat storage chamber that is thermally insulated and which in use, contains a heat storing liquid or solid and a thermal energy to electrical energy converter in or thermally coupled to at least one of: i) a secondary chamber external to and adjacent the primary heat storage chamber through which a liquid or steam to be heated is passed in use; and ii) a thermal conduction plate/surface external to the thermally insulated primary heat storage chamber or body. The system has a heat transfer feature to selectively transfer thermal energy from the heat storing liquid or solid of the primary heating chamber to the thermal conduction plate or the liquid or steam to be heated in the secondary chamber for the thermal energy to thence be converted to electrical energy by the thermal energy to electrical energy converter.
DEVICE FOR PREHEATING INLET OF A HOT WATER SUPPLY
The instant invention provides for a kit and method of raising inlet temperature of a water supply by utilizing thermodynamic properties associated with difference in temperatures across a gradient and friction. In particular a portion of an inlet supply pipe is disposed in a sewer line such that the opposing flow of waste water and related material interacts with the inlet piping by increasing the temperature thereof.
SYNERGISTIC ENERGY ECOSYSTEM
Synergistic Energy Ecosystem using a co-generation system and method wherein waste energy from waste heat producers within an enclosure including an electric generator is reclaimed to supply heat to the cold end of a heat pump within the enclosure for optimized use in space heating a habitat and to the management of the distribution of electricity from the generator so as to supply electricity to the habitat and to neighbouring habitats when efficient, cost-effective or required to do so by distribution policies managing the energy eco-system.
