Ball valve with pressure relief feature
10107406 · 2018-10-23 · ·

A valve assembly includes a valve body defining a main flow pathway (28) and a bypass channel (52) for bypassing the main flow pathway. A ball (20) is located in the main flow pathway and is moveable between an open position and a closed position. When the ball is in the open position, an open pathway through the ball fluidly completes the main flow pathway to provide an ordinary flow, and when the ball is in the closed position the ball blocks the main flow pathway. A pressure relief feature (50) is disposed in the bypass channel (52), and the valve body further defines a pressure relief passage (62) comprising a clearance between an outer surface of the ball (20) and the valve body. The pressure relief feature (50) permits a relief flow from the bypass channel (52) through the pressure relief passage (62) around the ball (20), and to the outlet (24) to relieve excess pressure in the connecting inlet piping (22).

Tank pressure control solenoid with passive tank vacuum

A valve assembly providing flow control between a fuel tank and a carbon canister, which includes two valves providing two different flow paths, where the first valve provides active vacuum relief along the first flow path, and the second valve provides passive vacuum relief along the second flow path. A reservoir is added to the cap which is common for both flow paths. The second valve has a sealing valve member and a biasable member that passively relieves fuel tank vacuum pressure at a predetermined vacuum level.

Multi-operational valve

A valve includes a valve body, an inlet orifice in fluid communication with a first fluid volume, an outlet aperture in fluid communication with a second fluid volume and in selective fluid communication with the inlet orifice by a first fluid flow path, an activation member axially movable relative to the valve body, and a plunger axially movable within the valve body. The plunger includes an aperture therethrough defining a second fluid flow path between the first and second fluid volumes. The valve is operable in a first mode in which fluid flow is only permitted along the first fluid flow path in response to manual actuation of the activation member. The valve is operable in a second mode in which fluid flow is only permitted along the second fluid flow path when a pressure difference between the first and second fluid volumes reaches a predetermined value.
