Patterned composite product
The present invention relates to methods for forming a composite product having a patterned surface. A substrate including a porous structure (136), a sheet-form material (134) and a patterned sheet (131) are pressed together to form the composite product. In preferred examples, the patterned sheet is permeable to curable material in the sheet-form material.
MELT-BLOWN FIBER WEB WITH IMPROVED CONCENTRATION FORCE AND ELASTICITY AND METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR MANUFACTURING THE SAME
Disclosed is a melt-blown fiber web with improved concentration force and elasticity, whereby a melt-blown fabric is cut and sealed at predetermined intervals using knives having arbitrary patterns so that concentration force and elasticity of the melt-blown fiber web can be improved without degrading the inherent function of the fiber web. Further disclosed are a method and apparatus for manufacturing the melt-blown fiber web. The melt-blown fiber web includes thermoplastic filaments, wherein cutting portions and sealing portions are arranged on top and bottom surfaces of the fiber web at predetermined intervals along a thickness of the fiber web so that a concentration force and elasticity of the fiber web are improved.
Vapor-permeable, substantially water-impermeable multilayer article
This disclosure relates to an article that includes a nonwoven substrate, a first film supported by the nonwoven substrate, and a second film such that the first film is between the nonwoven substrate and the second film. The first film includes a first polymer and a pore-forming filler. The difference between a surface energy of the first film and a surface energy of the nonwoven substrate is at most about 10 mN/m. The second film includes a second polymer capable of absorbing and desorbing moisture and providing a barrier to aqueous fluids.
Method and apparatus for controlling cooling temperature and pressure in wood veneer jet dryers
An apparatus for drying wood veneer includes an elongate drying chamber including a conveyor for conveying material to be dried from an input end to an output end; and a cooling section for cooling veneer leaving the output end of the drying chamber, the cooling section including a pressure controller for maintaining a pressure in the cooling section that is slightly higher than pressure in the drying chamber while maintaining a near-zero pressure differential between the drying chamber and the cooling section.
Method for fabricating an embedded pattern using a transfer-based imprinting
In a method for fabricating an embedded pattern using a transfer-based imprinting, an adhesive layer is formed on a substrate. The adhesive layer has a photo curable resin. A stamp having a protruded pattern is prepared. A thin-film layer is formed on an outer surface of the protruded pattern of the stamp. The stamp having the thin-film layer contact with the adhesive layer is pressed to selectively transfer the thin-film layer of the protruded pattern to the adhesive layer. Ultraviolet rays (UV) are irradiated to cure the adhesive layer. The stamp is removed.
Device for the study of living cells
A device for performing a cell study. The device comprises a plate having a plurality of wells, each configured for containing aqueous solution and having a well bottom with a plurality of picowells and a plurality of biosensors each configured for measuring at least one cell characteristic while being in contact with the aqueous solution in a respective the well. The position of each the biosensor in a respective the well is limited by at least one pin.
Bead-stiffened composite parts
A beaded composite panel is fabricated using composite plies. An opening is formed in each of plies, and each ply is laid up on a bead feature and drawn down over the bead feature in the area of the opening so as to widen the opening into a gap allowing the ply to conform to the contour of the bead feature. Patches are fabricated and placed on the plies overlying over the openings. The laid-up plies are compacted and cured.

The second film includes a second polymer capable of absorbing and desorbing moisture and providing a barrier to aqueous fluids.
Decorative laminates having a textured surface exhibiting superhydrophobicity, self-cleaning and low adhesion
A decorative laminate lay-up used in the manufacture of decorative laminates includes a decorative laminate sheet assembly composed of resin impregnated paper layers and a textured release sheet positioned on a top surface of the decorative laminate sheet assembly. The textured release sheet provides a textured surface to decorative laminates resulting from processing of the decorative laminate sheet assembly, wherein the textured release sheet includes a textured surface exhibiting superhydrophobicity, self-cleaning and low surface energy.
Decorative laminates having a textured surface exhibiting a fingerprint proof surface
A decorative laminate lay-up used in the manufacture of decorative laminates includes a decorative laminate sheet assembly composed of resin impregnated paper layers and a textured release sheet positioned on a top surface of the decorative laminate sheet assembly. The textured release sheet provides a textured surface to decorative laminates resulting from processing of the decorative laminate sheet assembly, wherein the textured release sheet includes a textured surface exhibiting anti-reflective, hydrophobic and oleophobic characteristics leading to a fingerprint proof surface.
