Automated wire processing system and methods
11569009 · 2023-01-31 · ·

In wire processing systems and methods, a wire channel receives a wire. One or more fluid guides flow the fluid into the wire channel to move, along the wire, a component (e.g. a solder sleeve) positioned at least partially in the wire channel and coupled to the wire. Other features are also provided.

Cable-laying device and method for producing wiring harnesses

A cable-laying device for producing wiring or cable harnesses of different types includes a laying plane for positioning lines of a wiring or cable harness, a plurality of transport units which can be moved relative to the laying plane in an at least partially automated manner, and a control device which is configured to control the transport units. A method for producing cable harnesses of different types by using a cable laying device is also provided.

Compression tool with biasing member
11539179 · 2022-12-27 · ·

An assembly comprises a compression member configured to receive a force input from a compression tool and a frame including a cradle at one end, an end fitting at the other, and at least one structural member linking the cradle to the end fitting. The cradle is configured to engage one end of the connector and receives the prepared end of the coaxial cable. The end fitting is configured to detachably connect the frame to the compression tool and includes an aperture for receiving the force input from the compression tool. The structural member defines at least one surface configured to guide the compression member along the axis in response to the force input. The compression member imposes an axial force on the other end of the connector and is guided along the axis by the guide surface of the frame.

Cable clamping device of a processing machine

A cable clamping device includes a pair of grip jaws, a reset mechanism, and a handle connected to the grip jaws by the reset mechanism. The handle is pivotable about a handle pivot between a first position in which the grip jaws are in an open position and a second position in which the grip jaws are in a closed position around a cable. The reset mechanism pivots the handle from the second position to the first position before moving to a reset position of the reset mechanism that holds the handle in the first position.

CONNECTOR INSERT DEVICE FOR AUTOMATIC SWITCHING OF CONNECTOR FIXTURES
20230178951 · 2023-06-08 ·

A connector insert device for automatic switching of connector fixture includes terminal fixing portions clipping a wire, a wire storage portion storing groups of wires, transferring portions configured to store the wire clipped by the terminal fixing portion in the wire storage portion through a conveying portion, a connector fixing portion storing connectors, and an insert portion inserting the groups of wires in the wire storage portion into the connector fixing portion through the conveying portion. Each terminal fixing portion includes a terminal fixing base, a terminal clipping base, and a terminal gripper. The terminal clipping base is rotatably connected with the terminal fixing base through a terminal connecting shaft. The terminal gripper is connected with the terminal clipping base. The terminal fixing portion rotates the wire to a predetermined angle. The transferring portions clip the wire and places the wire in the wire storage portion.

VIBRATING PALLET SYSTEM FOR AUTOMATED WIRE INSERTION
20170222387 · 2017-08-03 ·

Examples disclosed herein generally relate to methods and apparatus for the insertion of one or more wires into a cavity of a fixture of a structure or component. The wire insertion apparatus includes a grommet, a gripper adapted to interface with the grommet, and at least a first vibrating element. The first vibrating element is connected to and vibrates one or more of the apparatus, the grommet, the gripper, the wire, and/or a component of the apparatus. Vibration, induced in any direction, enables the cavities to shift position during insertion relative to the contact, thus increasing the tolerance of the cavity, reducing the failure rate of wire insertion, and reducing total production time. The vibration breaks the static friction of the contact in the grommet or dielectric opening, creates the positive locating required to insert the contact in the grommet and/or dielectric, and/or pivots the contact.

Shotgun stick with remote controller

An apparatus and method is provided for a shotgun stick for manipulating, removing and installing clamps and other devices to electrical connectors on electric power distribution systems. The shotgun stick includes an elongated, electrical insulating, support rod having a working end and a holding end. An electrical insulating head mounted on the working end of the support rod. A clamping mechanism is mounted within the head for extension from the head and retraction into the head. An actuating mechanism is mounted within the head for extending and retracting the clamping mechanism. A control module is mounted within the head for controlling the actuating mechanism to extend and retract the clamping mechanism. The control module including a receiver for receiving a control signal. A remote controller is operable by the operator holding the holding end to generate the control signal.

Crimping machine

Disclosed is a crimping machine for crimping contact elements comprising a conveying device via which a separated wire ferrule is guided from a transport unit towards a crimping head.

Method and system for alignment and insertion of wire contact with wire contact insertion holes of a connector

A method, system and computer program product are provided for aligning and inserting a wire contact within a target hole of a connector to facilitate the automated insertion of the wire ends of a wire bundle assembly into the wire contact insertion holes of a connector. Methods may include: obtaining captured images, from at least two image capture devices attached to an end-effector of a robot, of a wire gripper of the end-effector; causing the robot to advance the end-effector to move the wire contact within a predetermined distance of the connector; causing the robot to advance the end-effector to move the wire contact toward the connector a predetermined additional amount more; and identifying, based on movement of the wire contact the predetermined additional amount more, if alignment is correct from force feedback at the wire gripper.
