Pushing out a plate-shaped workpiece part that has been cut free
A machine for separative machining of a plate-shaped workpiece that has: a first movement unit for moving the workpiece in a first direction (X); a second movement unit for moving a machining head for the separative machining in a second direction (Y); and two workpiece bearing faces for bearing the workpiece. A gap that extends along the second direction (Y) is formed between the workpiece bearing faces. The machine has a push-out unit having a push-out element, wherein the push-out element is movable at least in the second direction (Y) within the gap so as to press, at a predefined push-out position (AP), against a workpiece part that was cut free from the workpiece during separative machining. The disclosure further relates to methods for pushing out a workpiece part which, in particular, was cut free on such a machine.
Punch rivet and also a method and apparatuses for attachment of individual components to one another of which at least one component is formed by a workpiece of composite material
A hollow punch rivet is described having a flange and a rivet section. Furthermore, a method for the attachment of individual components to one another using a punch rivet is described, with at least one of the components being formed by a material of the composite material. The method includes the following steps: a) arrangement of the die button against one of the two components to be secured to one another, which are placed on one another, wherein the die button has a bore which is dimensioned to receive the rivet section, b) carrying out a relative movement of the punch rivet with the free end of the rivet section to the fore towards the components arranged on one another and in the direction of the die button, c) piercing of the components with the free end of the rivet section and introduction of the rivet section into the bore of the die button until the component contact surface comes into contact and the component adjacent to the flange, d) using a plunger in order to dilate the punch rivet at least locally and e) forming a rivet bead by reshaping the free end region of the rivet section.
Feed assembly for a riveting machine and a method of operation of the same
A feed assembly for a foot-pedal operated riveter and a method of using the same is disclosed. The feed assembly includes a rivet stop that has a tip that separates a lowermost fastener from a second from lowermost fastener when the riveter is in a non-operational position. This rivet stop prevents fasteners from sliding down a raceway on the feed assembly. When the riveter is moved into an operational position, the rivet stop moves out of the way and permits the second from lowermost fastener to slide into position for subsequent installation. The rivet stop thus enables automatic reloading of the riveter during operation.
Blind rivet nut-setting tool
A blind rivet nut-setting tool includes an output shaft defining a longitudinal axis. The output shaft is moveable along the longitudinal axis between a first position and a second position. The blind rivet nut-setting tool further includes a first motor configured to rotate the output shaft about the longitudinal axis in response to an external force moving the output shaft in a rearward direction from the first position to the second position. The blind rivet nut-setting tool further includes a second motor configured to translate the output shaft along the longitudinal axis in the rearward direction.
Method for delivering and setting self-piercing rivets
Fastener delivery apparatus for automatically selecting and delivering fasteners such as rivets to a setting tool. The fasteners are pre-loaded in a package and dispense via at least one fastener delivery tube that interconnects the setting tool to a fastener feeder device. The fastener feeder device releases selected fasteners from the package into the delivery tube. The fasteners are transportable individually or in groups in the tube from the feeder device to the tool. A transfer station attached to the tool or the delivery tube transfers a fastener from the delivery apparatus into the tool, transfer station is adjacent to the tool so that a delivered fastener may be inserted by the transfer station into the tool and a second position in which it is clear of the tool so as to permit the tool or a portion thereof to move towards a workpiece to insert a smooth, rapid and reliable delivery of fasteners of various sizes and types to the nose of a setting tool in any particular order and provides all the fastener types for any particular work cycle.
Expanding die for clinching and riveting operations
A die for use with a cold-formed joint tool such as a clinching tool or clinch punch or self-piercing rivet punch. A split die made of a plurality of partial cup-shaped segments is disposed within a collar that defines a recess. The recess includes a forming area in which the cold-formed joint is formed and a relieved area in which the partial cup-shaped segments are shifted radially outwardly after forming to permit removal of the cold-formed joint tool from the cold-formed joint.
Continuous fastener feeding apparatus and method
Methods and apparatuses for continuous fastener feeding for sequentially delivering single fasteners to a fastener installation device are disclosed. In one embodiment the apparatus includes a first fastener reel for supporting a first fastener tape securing a plurality of fasteners and a second fastener reel for supporting a second fastener tape for securing a plurality of fasteners. A fastener tape joining device positioned downstream of the first and second fastener reels receives the respective first and the second fastener tapes and selectively engage the first and second fastener tapes when one of the fastener tapes becomes depleted of fasteners.
Friction bit joining of materials using a friction rivet
A system and method of joining at least two workpieces together using a friction rivet and a friction rivet cap that are friction stirred together after a cutting tip or cutting feature on the friction rivet cuts through workpieces and is then bonded to the friction rivet cap, and wherein the friction rivet cap may be excluded if the friction rivet includes a hollow in the cutting tip, the hollow being flared after the friction rivets cuts through the workpieces to thereby create an integral rivet cap in the end of the friction rivet.
BLIND RIVET NUT-SETTING TOOL
A method comprising threading a blind rivet nut onto an output shaft of the tool, pressing the blind rivet nut against a workpiece, thereby applying an external force to the output shaft to move the output shaft in a rearward direction along a longitudinal axis from a first position to a second position, activating a first motor to rotate the output shaft about the longitudinal axis in response to the output shaft reaching the second position, thereby further threading the blind rivet nut onto the output shaft, and activating a second motor to translate the output shaft along the longitudinal axis in the rearward direction, thereby setting the blind rivet nut on the workpiece.
Die changer with removable die adapted thereto and die dome as well as method for removing and inserting the removable die
A removable die of a joining tool comprising a die head having an upper side, a bottom side and a die shaft extending from the bottom side and receivable and lockable in a die dome without rotation. The die shaft comprises: at least one first radial web forming an axial undercut on two sides by which the die shaft is lockable in the die dome by a linear inserting movement, at least one second exposed radial web, the radial length of which is adaptable to a diameter of the die dome to ensure a lateral guiding of the die shaft in the die dome and which is arranged between the die head and the first radial web, and an ejection surface by which the removable die can be moved out of the die dome and which is arranged at the free end of the die shaft opposite to the die head.
