Preform extended finish for processing light weight ecologically beneficial bottles
Disclosed are preforms which incorporate improvements in the region of the neck and upper segment of the body to allow the production of lightweight containers, such as bottles suitable for containing water or other beverages. In accordance with certain embodiments, the improvements include a thinner neck finish area than conventional bottles, where the thinner area is extended into the upper segment of the body portion below the support ring. Reducing the thickness in these areas of the bottle allows for less resin to be used in forming the preform and bottle.
Article with overlay secured to bladder element over image and method of manufacturing the article
A method of manufacturing an article includes forming a fluid-filled bladder element from polymeric material. The method further includes securing an overlay to the polymeric material. At least one portion of the overlay is substantially transparent, and an image on one of the fluid-filled bladder element and the overlay is aligned with and exposed to view through the at least one portion of the overlay that is substantially transparent. The fluid-filled bladder element is assembled in the article so that a first portion of the fluid-filled bladder element and the image are exposed to view, and a second portion of the fluid-filled bladder element is blocked from view by the article. An article includes the fluid-filled bladder element with the image, and with the overlay secured to the fluid-filled bladder element.
USE OF A WATER-SOLUBLE UNIT DOSE ARTICLE TO IMPROVE THE USER DOSING EXPERIENCE
The present invention relates to the use of water-soluble unit dose article to improve the user dosing experience.
Polylactic acid formed body having a vapor-deposited film and method of producing the same
A polylactic acid formed body including a polylactic acid base material (1) and a hydrocarbon film (3) vapor-deposited on the surface of the base material by a plasma CVD method. The polylactic acid base material (1) exhibits a sharp X-ray diffraction peak in which a half-width of peak appearing in the 10°-25° wide angle X-ray measurement is not more than 1.22°, and the hydrocarbon film (3) is vapor-deposited on the surface of the polylactic acid base material (1), and includes two layers of a high CH.sub.2 layer (3a) having a ratio of CH.sub.2 per the total of CH, CH.sub.2 and CH.sub.3 of not less than 40% and a low CH.sub.2 layer (3b) formed on the high CH.sub.2 layer (3a) and having a ratio of CH.sub.2 per the total of CH, CH.sub.2 and CH.sub.3 of not more than 35%.
COMPOSITE PREFORM, COMPOSITE CONTAINER, COMPOSITE PREFORM, PLASTIC MEMBER, AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING COMPOSITE CONTAINER
[Problem] To provide: a composite container which can be given various functions and characteristics; a method for producing such composite container; a preform; and a composite preform.
[Solution] A composite container according to the present invention includes: a container body which is made of a plastic material; and a plastic member disposed on the outer surface of the container body, wherein the container body and the plastic member are integrally inflated by means of blow molding, and wherein the plastic member includes a colored layer and/or a print layer where a print is made.
PREFORM EXTENDED FINISH FOR PROCESSING LIGHT WEIGHT ECOLOGICALLY BENEFICIAL BOTTLES
An injection-molded preform for forming an 8 ounce PET container includes a neck portion configured to engage a closure and having a first wall thickness and an elongated body portion having an upper segment adjacent the neck portion and a lower segment adjacent an end cap. The upper segment has a second wall thickness substantially similar to the first wall thickness. The lower segment has a third wall thickness greater than the second wall thickness. The preform has a total weight less than 7 grams.
Recyclable packaging material and process of preparation thereof
A recyclable article includes 50-90 wt % of at least one polyethylene having a density in the range 0.94 to 0.97 g/cm.sup.3. The article exhibits Young's modulus less than 700 MPa; and a haze value less than or equal to 50%. The recyclable article can be included in a film or a laminate. The article can be prepared using a blown film extrusion process.
FILMS INCLUDING A WATER-SOLUBLE LAYER AND A VAPOR-DEPOSITED ORGANIC COATING
Films including a water-soluble layer and a vapor-deposited organic coating are disclosed. The films can optionally further include a vapor-deposited inorganic layer. The films exhibit enhanced barrier properties.
Gas Storage Device
In an embodiment, the gas storage device includes a cylinder with opposing ends. An endcap is present at each end. The cylinder and the endcaps form an enclosure. Each endcap includes a connector. A diaphragm is located in the enclosure. The diaphragm includes an annular sidewall. The device includes an inner chamber defined by an inner surface of the sidewall, and a storage space between an interior surface of the cylinder and an outer surface of the sidewall. A metal hydride composition is located in the storage space.
Relating to insulation
A flexible insulation material comprising a flexible porous medium defining a pore volume, and a phase change material (PCM) within the pore volume.
