Cutting system, adjustable sorting apparatus and method thereof
A method and a cutting system for sheets includes a cutting center, a sorting apparatus with handlers for gripping pieces cut by the cutting center, and a transfer board, movable between the handler area and the inside of the cutting center, supporting the sheets. The cutting center includes a cutting head movably mounted above the transfer board with a distance detection sensor, detecting distance data with respect to a sheet on the transfer board. The cutting center and sorting apparatus have respective first and second control logics. A data interface unit lies between the first and second control logic, by which distance data from the distance detection sensor, are transferred. The second control logic has a processor defining, periodically during operation cycles, an altitude map based on the distance data detected in a number of positions, and controlling a gripping step of the handlers based on the altitude map.

Apparatus for cutting products, comprising: a base; a cutting head with at least one cutting element along the circumference of the cutting head for cutting products fed into the cutting head, the cutting head being rotatably fitted to the base; an impeller adapted for rotating concentrically within the cutting head to urge products fed into the cutting head towards the circumference of the cutting head by means of centrifugal force; a first drive mechanism for driving the rotation of the impeller at a first rotational speed setting the centrifugal force; and a second drive mechanism for driving the rotation of the cutting head at a second rotational speed, determined such with respect to the first rotational speed that the product is cut by the at least one cutting element at a predetermined cutting velocity.

Part pack optimization
A food slicing machine is provided for slicing food products such as bacon, cheese or cooked meat for sale as groups of slices in separate packs. The food slicing machine includes a cutter for cutting slices from the food product and a controller for controlling the thickness of the slices. The machine cuts slices according to a first value of a slicing parameter until the controller determines when the amount of food product remaining to be sliced in an end portion of the food product is less than a predetermined group weight threshold. The controller causes a slice to be cut according to a second, different value of the slicing parameter from the end portion for addition to an under-weight group of slices, so that its weight at least equals the predetermined group weight threshold.
