Foundry mix including resorcinol
A foundry mix includes a major amount of a foundry aggregate and an effective binding amount of a binder system. The binder system cures in the presence of sulfur dioxide and a free radical initiator. The binder system may include (1) 10 to 70 parts by weight of an epoxy novolac resin; (2) 0.5 to 10 parts by weight of resorcinol; (3) 20 to 70 parts by weight of a monomeric or polymeric acrylate; and (4) an effective amount of a free radical initiator. Notably, (1), (2), (3) and (4) are separate components or mixed with another of said components, provided (4) is not mixed with (3) until a foundry mix is to be created, where said parts by weight are based upon 100 parts of the binder system.

METHOD FOR PRODUCING A PROFILE SEGMENT OF A SEGMENTED CASTING-VULCANIZING MOLD FOR VEHICLE TIRES AND A VULCANIZING MOLD AND A VEHICLE TIRE
A method is for producing a profile segment of a segmented casting-vulcanizing mold for vehicle tires, the molding area of which molds a segment of the tread profile of a tire to be vulcanized, including the steps: creating a rigid model segment having a casing-like tread surface; milling the profile positive of the tread into the casing-like tread surface of the model segment to obtain the master model; creating a flexible impression from the master model; creating a rigid plaster cast from the impression to form a casting core segment; casting all of the annular, placed-together casting core segments with an aluminium-magnesium alloy to obtain a vulcanizing mold, subsequently divided into profile segments. A plasma coating is applied to the tread of the model segment, into which the profile positive of the tread is subsequently milled to obtain the master model. Plasma coating gives the master model a defined roughness.
METHODS FOR FABRICATING CAST COMPONENTS WITH COOLING CHANNELS
A method for fabricating a cast component with a cooling channel is provided. The method includes forming a shell mold over a pattern-ceramic matrix composite (CMC) elongated core arrangement to define a cavity in the shell mold. The pattern-CMC elongated core arrangement includes a pattern-forming material with a CMC elongated core disposed therein. The pattern-forming material in the cavity is replaced with metal via a casting process to form the cast component with the CMC elongated core disposed therein defining the cooling channel. The CMC elongated core is removed from the cast component to open the cooling channel for fluid communication.

METHOD AND ASSEMBLY FOR FORMING COMPONENTS USING A JACKETED CORE
A mold assembly for use in forming a component having an outer wall of a predetermined thickness includes a mold and a jacketed core. The jacketed core includes a jacket that includes a first jacket outer wall coupled against an interior wall of the mold, a second jacket outer wall positioned interiorly from the first jacket outer wall, and at least one jacketed cavity defined therebetween. The at least one jacketed cavity is configured to receive a molten component material therein. The jacketed core also includes a core positioned interiorly from the second jacket outer wall. The core includes a perimeter coupled against the second jacket outer wall. The jacket separates the perimeter from the interior wall by the predetermined thickness, such that the outer wall is formable between the perimeter and the interior wall.
TEXTURED DIE HAVING BLOCKS FOR MANUFACTURING A TEXTURED MOULD FOR MOULDING AND VULCANIZING TIRES
Die (1) representing a tread pattern model for a tread of a tire to be moulded. The die is made up of a plurality of blocks (2) separated by grooves (4), at least a part of the die having surfaces provided with textures (5).
DIE HAVING TEXTURED INSERTS FOR MANUFACTURING A TEXTURED MOULD FOR MOULDING AND VULCANIZING TIRES
Die (1) representing a tread pattern model for a tread of a tire to be moulded, said die being made up of a die body (2) and at least one insert (10) attached to the body of said die, covering at least one of the surfaces of the grooves (4) in the body (2), the insert having at least one substantially flat surface provided with textures.
SAND MOULD IDENTIFICATION DEVICE
The sand mould identification device has a housing with an identification pattern face adapted to be arranged in a pattern forming surface of a sand moulding machine. Individually adjustable indicator elements in the identification pattern face are adjustable by means of an actuators. The housing includes an insertion portion adapted to be inserted into a corresponding recess of said sand moulding machine. The identification pattern face is located at a front end of the insertion portion. The insertion portion is adapted to be inserted into the sand moulding machine in an insertion direction extending from a rear end to the front end of the insertion portion. A mounting bracket is accessible at or behind the rear end of the insertion portion for mounting or demounting the housing to or from the sand moulding machine or core shooter.
Layered slab manufacturing system and method
A manufacturing method uses layered slabs to create a final pattern for a mold or for creating the mold itself. The method includes: preparing a desired number of slabs including a first slab and a second slab; machining the first slab; machining the second slab; and after the second slab is coupled to the first slab, repeating the machining step for each additional slab included in the desired number of slabs to form the final pattern or mold.
