Composite materials
A fibre reinforced polymer (FRP) composite structure incorporates a woven preform containing tows of carbon or other advanced fibres and wires of shape memory alloy (SMA). The SMA wires are capable of absorbing much larger amounts of strain energy than the conventional components of FRP composites and hence enhance the impact resistance of the structure. The woven form incorporates the SMA into the structure in an optimum manner in terms of handling and performance.
Three-dimensional woven preforms for omega stiffeners
Disclosed is a method of forming a 3D woven omega-shaped stiffener by flat weaving a plurality of layers of interwoven warp and weft fibers to form a flat woven fabric having a cap portion, a first and a second web portion, a first and second foot portion, and an inner wrap portion. The 3D woven fabric is woven so that least some of the weft fibers are continuous across a juncture between the web portion and the foot portions. The flat woven fabric is then formed into the omega shape.
POLYETHYLENE YARN, METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING THE SAME, AND SKIN COOLING FABRIC COMPRISING THE SAME
Disclosed is a polyethylene yarn capable of providing a user with a soft tactile sensation as well as a cooling feeling or a cooling sensation, and also having improved weavability that enables the manufacture of a skin cooling fabrics having excellent pilling resistance, abrasion resistance, cuttability, and sewability, a method for manufacturing the same, and a skin cooling fabric including the same. In a strength-elongation curve of the polyethylene yarn obtained by measuring at ambient temperature, (i) elongation at strength of 1 g/d is 0.5 to 3%, (ii) elongation at strength of 3 g/d is 5.5 to 10%, and (iii) a difference between elongation at strength of 4 g/d and elongation at maximum strength is 5.5 to 25%, and the polyethylene yarn has toughness of 55 to 120 J/m.sup.3 at ambient temperature.
BICOMPONENT FIBERS WITH IMPROVED CURVATURE
Provided are bicomponent fibers with improved curvature. The bicomponent fiber comprises a first region and a second region. The first region comprises a first polyethylene composition and second region comprises a second polyethylene composition, wherein the first polyethylene composition has a crystallization temperature (Tc) greater than a crystallization temperature (Tc) of the second polyethylene composition. The bicomponent fiber can be used to form a nonwoven.
Polyethylene fiber, manufacturing method thereof, and manufacturing apparatus thereof
The present disclosure relates to a polyethylene fiber and a method for preparing thereof, and more particularly to a polyethylene fiber, a method for preparing thereof, and an apparatus for preparing thereof, which has excellent wearing and touch sensation with processing convenience into woven fabrics and knitted fabrics in use in applied products by reducing the stiffness of fiber having the same physical properties using an enforced necking method in a spinning process.
Technique for forming porous fibers
A method for forming a fiber is provided. The method comprises extruding a matrix polymer and a nanoinclusion additive to form a thermoplastic composition in which the nanoinclusion additive is dispersed within a continuous phase of the matrix polymer. The extruded thermoplastic composition is thereafter passed through a spinneret to form a fiber having a porous network containing a plurality of nanopores, wherein the average percent volume occupied by the nanopores within a given unit volume of the fiber is from about 3% to about 15% per cm.sup.3.
PACKAGE OF ABSORBENT ARTICLES UTILIZING A SHAPED NONWOVEN
A package of personal care articles. Each of the personal care articles has a nonwoven substrate as a component. The nonwoven substrate can have a first surface defining a plane of the first surface and a non-regular pattern of a plurality of three-dimensional features extending outwardly from the plane of the first surface. The non-regular pattern can include a first zone of first three-dimensional features and a second zone of second three-dimensional features, wherein in at least one of the first or second zones of the plurality of three-dimensional features has a first three-dimensional feature having a first intensive property and a second three-dimensional feature having a second, different intensive property. The personal care articles can be compressed in the package.
FIBROUS SHEET WITH IMPROVED PROPERTIES
A method for producing a foam-formed multilayered substrate that includes producing an aqueous-based foam including at least 3% by weight non-straight synthetic binder fibers, wherein the non-straight synthetic binder fibers have an average length greater than 2 mm; forming together a wet sheet layer from the aqueous-based foam and a cellulosic fiber layer, wherein the cellulosic fiber layer includes at least 60 percent by weight cellulosic fibers; and drying the combined layers to obtain the foam-formed multilayer substrate. A multilayered substrate includes a first layer including at least 60 percent by weight non-straight synthetic binder fibers having an average length greater than 2 mm; and a second layer including at least 60 percent by weight cellulosic fiber, wherein the first layer is in a facing relationship with the second layer, and wherein the multilayered substrate has a wet/dry tensile ratio of at least 60%.
NONWOVEN FABRIC LAYERED BODY, COMPOSITE LAYERED BODY, AND COVER SHEET
A nonwoven fabric layered body includes a first nonwoven fabric layer including a crimped fiber (A), which is a fiber made of a thermoplastic polymer and which has an average crimp diameter of 800 μm or less; and a hydrophilic agent.
