A height adjustable device pit (10) is provided for use in installing water meters (12) or other equipment below ground level. The device pit (10) includes a lower housing section (14), an upper housing section (16), and a lid (18). The lower housing section (14) and the upper housing section (16) are engaged with each other by mating screw threads (20) and (22) that are centered on a vertical, longitudinal axis (24). The housing sections (14,16) are movable relative to each other along the longitudinal axis (24) to adjust the vertical height of the device pit (10) in response to relative rotation of the housing sections (14) and (16) about the longitudinal axis (24).

UTILITY COVER

A cover for an underground enclosure may include an upper surface and may include a pattern of bosses, and a first slot and a second slot each disposed on the upper surface. The cover may also include a lower surface opposite the upper surface. A first rib or reinforcement member may be coupled to the lower surface. The first slot may extend into the first rib or reinforcement member. A second rib or reinforcement member may be coupled to the lower surface and aligned with the first rib or reinforcement member. The second slot may extend into the second rib or reinforcement member. The cover may be configured to be lifted by the first slot and the second slot.

A new seismic isolation bearing assembly is disclosed. The assembly includes a first isolation bearing plate, a second isolation bearing plate, and a moveable bearing element disposed between the first and second isolation bearing plates, each of the first and second isolation plates comprises a solid material and a surface facing the other isolation plate comprising a polymeric material different from the solid material. The polymeric material is effective to enhance the operability of the assembly.

System and method for real-time displacement control using expansive grouting techniques

The present disclosure relates to a method for real-time compensation for ground movements which would otherwise adversely affect an existing built environment. Embodiments may include providing a plurality of holes in soil for the injection of a substance that expands as a consequence of a chemical reaction. The plurality of holes may be located between a source of movement and an asset to be protected. Embodiments may also include injecting, in at least one of the plurality of holes, the substance and monitoring, in real-time, at least one of movement of the soil or the asset to be protected. Real-time monitoring may occur during an activity that is causing the ground movements. Embodiments may further include obtaining real-time monitoring data, based upon, at least in part, the monitoring.

Sea walls, retaining walls and like structures using pin piles
10731312 · 2020-08-04 · ·

A pin pile is disclosed for anchoring sections of sheet pile to form a wall structure. The pin pile has a casing with a plurality of external clutches formed around the periphery. In use other corresponding clutches on the sections of sheet pile can interlock with the external clutches of the pin pile over a range of angles in accordance with a directional extent of said wall structure.

EXTRUDED FIBER REINFORCED PVC GROOVED PILE
20200208369 · 2020-07-02 ·

A pile is comprised of a pipe, i.e., a tube or hollow cylinder of annular cross-section, with a coextensive internal reinforcement comprised of a plurality of intersecting walls forming a plurality of vertices. Each vertex intersects the pipe. Adjacent intersections are evenly spaced around the annular cross-section. The pile is comprised of a blend of PVC and 20 to 50% (pbw) chopped strand glass fibers. A groove is cut into the pile adjacent to an end for frictional retention in a sea bed.

Disclosed is a nesting element for use in a hollow pile. The nesting element is configured to be retained at an opening defined in a wall of the pile. The nesting element comprises a surface that is configured such that, in use, the surface substantially conforms to an internal profile at a transverse cross-section of the pile. Also disclosed are a pile system that employs one or more nesting elements in one or more respective piles, and an installation system for installing the pile system into the ground. Additionally, a method of constructing a retaining wall using the pile system and installation system is disclosed.

Precast concrete screw cylinder system and method for soil stabilization and erosion control
10648146 · 2020-05-12 ·

An earth stabilization system includes a plurality of hollow jars positioned within ground to be stabilized, the jar walls formed from a concrete material or mix. The jars include a base cutter including a plurality of teeth coupled to a jar wall at or near the wall bottom, the base cutter including at least one material other than concrete, e.g., metal, diamond tip or carbide tip. The jars can be coupled to a turning tool that can cause rotation of the jar to turn or drive the jar into the soil mass or waterbed. The turning tool effects rotation of the jar and the base cutter, and the weight of the jar and the base cutter at least in part enable the jar to penetrate the ground to be stabilized. Displaced soil or other earthen material can move through a bore in the wall of the jar while the jar is being screwed into the soil in the direction of the wall bottom to the wall top. The base cutter of each jar can be welded to reinforcing material in a jar wall. The base cutter of each jar can also be included as an integral portion of a single jar unit.
