The present invention relates to a filtration unit for filtering the water in a pool or basin, in particular a swimming pool, said unit being mounted behind a wall of said pool, and communicating with said pool via a suction intake (3, 6) and via a delivery orifice to generate a forced flow of water from and back into the pool through a filtration tank and through a suction column by means of centrifugal hydraulic pump. The centrifugal hydraulic pump has an electric motor coupled to a centrifugal turbine housed in a pump body. The electric motor is a sealed, brushless, autonomously controlled motor that is powered at very low voltage and that may advantageously be immersed inside the filtration unit below the level of the water contained in said pool, thereby enabling said motor to be cooled and sound-proofed naturally by the forced flow of the water from the pool, thereby forming a filtration unit and a pool that have low energy consumption.

Low head loss systems are detailed. The systems may include chambers having low impedance to water flow therethrough and repositionable gates or other valves within the chambers. The valves may direct water as a function of whether an associated heating device is active. At least some gates may incorporate poppet valves or other high-flow by-passes.

The present disclosure is directed towards skimmer systems for above-ground pools. In particular, the present disclosure relates to skimmer systems that are easily installed to the side wall of an above-ground pool. In addition, aspects of the present disclosure relate to a skimmer system for an above-ground pool that provides for an improved watertight seal between the skimmer system and the side wall of the pool. The system and method may further include the use of a reference electrode to control the potential of the first or second electrode to function as a working electrode and being the anode relative the other one of the first and second electrodes being the cathode and functioning as a counter electrode. The method providing a publicly accessible urban beach entertainment complex with a centerpiece man-made tropical-style pristine-clear lagoon. The method allows for generating revenue and increasing efficiency by pairing vacant sites, underutilized sites, limited use land, or sites that are contiguous to entertainment, educational, sports, and/or commercial venues with urban beach entertainment complexes. The complex preferably has a controlled public access, thereby allowing entrance upon payment of a fee.

A device is provided for disinfecting water of a swimming pool, which includes an inlet for water from the swimming pool and an outlet for the water, an ozonation device, and a mixing section for ozone-containing water, wherein the ozonation device includes at least one UV light source for generating ozone, and an admixing unit for admixing the ozone to the water of the inlet, and the mixing section comprises a housing connected to the inlet, wherein the UV light source is arranged within the housing to emit UV light into the housing interior. The housing has deflecting surfaces for water protruding into the housing interior, which ensure a meandering flow within the housing. The device enables improved disinfection and can be designed to be more space-saving and visually appealing than conventional devices.

There is described a water monitoring device for monitoring a body of water. The body of water comprises a main body of water and a water inlet and/or water outlet. The water monitoring device comprises a sensor operable to generate data in relation to a property of the body of water, an attachment member operable to removably arrange the device in a substantially stationary position adjacent to the water inlet and/or water outlet of the body of water; and a communication member operable to transmit the data relating to a property of the body of water to a remote device. Also described is a water monitoring apparatus and a method of monitoring a body of water.

Systems and methods for filtering unpurified water using modular filtration units are disclosed. According some embodiments of the invention the modular filtration unit may include a modular removable filtration cartridge with pressed non-woven geotextile fabrics and a frame assembly, and a filtration container. The filtration container holds the modular removable filtration cartridges and has walls that form a basin. A first wall has an inlet for receiving water into the filtration container and a second wall has an outlet for draining water out of the filtration container. The water is filtered by the modular removable filtration cartridges as it flows across the basin from the inlet to the outlet. The modular filtration units may be combined together to form a zoned filtration assembly, which may be inserted into the hull of a floating swimming pool. The zoned filtration assemblies may filter natural water as it fills the swimming pool.
