Hollow subsea foundations

A method of installing an upright elongate hollow subsea foundation that is higher than it is wide, such as a suction pile. The foundation is at least partially embedded in seabed soil. A partition layer is placed within the foundation, for example by injecting a grout, supported by a plug of soil that is surrounded by the foundation. The partition layer is placed on the plug of soil at a level that is spaced from the top of the foundation by at least 20% of the height of the foundation. Above the partition layer, the interior of the foundation may be filled with water and/or a rigid body, such as a solid mass or a hollow liquid-filled tank.

CONVENIENT-TO-DISASSEMBLE UNDERWATER PENETRATION SYSTEM FOR OFFSHORE WIND POWER AND COOPERATIVE OPERATION METHOD THEREOF

The present belongs to offshore wind power engineering field, and particularly relates to a convenient-to-disassemble underwater penetration system for offshore wind power and an operation method thereof. The system includes a penetration device, a suction pump, a sonar ranging module and a control module. The penetration device is configured to be detachably butted with a suction bucket. The suction pump is configured to suck the suction bucket by the penetration device to settle the suction bucket. The sonar ranging module is configured to acquire settlement depth data of the suction bucket. The control module is configured to receive the data and to control the suction pump to work according to it, thereby achieving synchronous settlement of different suction buckets. The present invention is capable of achieving automatic multi-bucket synchronous penetration, thereby improving the installation efficiency of the suction bucket for offshore wind power, shortening construction time and reducing construction cost.

A cofferdam is disclosed that includes an open frame structure having double walls defining a hollow space within each double wall, with each double wall having an open bottom end and a closed top end. Each of the double walls are configured to act as suction piles allowing liquid to be removed from the space within each double wall to thereby induce negative pressure when the cofferdam is installed in a sub-sea configuration. Each of the double walls may include a plurality of partitions respectively defining a plurality of suction piles, the suction piles fluidically coupled by a manifold that may allow liquid to be removed from the suction pile to thereby drive the cofferdam structure into the subsea surface due to the induced negative pressure. A further embodiment cofferdam structure includes an open frame structure and one or more suction piles attached to the open frame structure.

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR SUCTION ANCHOR DEPLOYMENT

A suction anchor system comprises a substantially tubular suction anchor embeddable in a seabed, a predetermined set of sliding rails, an excavator, and a predetermined set of non-triangular wings disposed about the outer surface of the tubular, and a deployment interface which comprises a deployment cage, a suction anchor lid, and a predetermined set of deployment cage skidding rails disposed about an outer portion of the deployment cage. Using a surface vessel comprising a dispatcher which comprises a storage magazine configured to selectively receive and discharge the suction anchor, a skidding system, and an overhead anchor handler, the suction anchor can be operatively connected and secured to, and placed into fluid communication with, the deployment interface. The deployment interface along its connected suction anchor is lowed from the surface vessel into sea water using the dispatcher until the suction anchor contacts the seabed and allowed to self-penetrate below the seabed due to its own weight.
