METHOD FOR OPERATING A FLUID CIRCUIT OF A MOTOR VEHICLE, AND CORRESPONDING FLUID CIRCUIT
A method for operating a fluid circuit of a motor vehicle, used for operating via a main circuit, and with a secondary circuit that is connected through a mechanical thermostatic valve to the main circuit, and an electric fluid conveying device for conveying a fluid. In a test mode, during a test period, the fluid conveying device is adjusted to a test operational speed and the actual amperage of the current required for the fluid conveying device is determined, wherein with an actual temperature of the fluid, which is lower than a switching temperature of the thermostatic value, the actual current amperage is stored as the first amperage value, and with an actual temperature, which is higher than the switching temperature, a second amperage value is stored, so that a proper function of the thermostatic valve is recognized when the second amperage is higher than the first amperage value.
219-0200 Advanced thermostat system for an internal combustion engine with boost pressure depending control function
Methods and systems are provided for a valve for controlling the flow of a fluid medium in a coolant circuit of an internal combustion engine. The valve is configured to react to the temperature of the coolant via an expansion element and to the charge pressure in the intake tract via a pressure-sensitive actuator.
Active warm-up system and method
A vehicle heating/cooling system has first and second fluid circulation loops for circulating engine coolant and automotive fluid. A first heat exchanger transfers heat from the coolant to air for the passenger compartment. A second heat exchanger transfers heat between the coolant and automotive fluid. A first valve has first and second inlets for receiving coolant from hot and cold coolant sources, and an outlet for discharging coolant to the second heat exchanger. A second valve has an inlet for receiving coolant from the first coolant source, and an outlet for discharging coolant to the first inlet of the first valve. The valve positions change with temperature of the coolant and the automotive fluid, providing preferential heating of the passenger compartment during cold start-up of the vehicle. The second heat exchanger and valves may be provided in a temperature control module.
Internal combustion system
An internal combustion system capable of exactly determining timing of exchanging a coolant of an engine. The internal combustion system includes an engine, cooling circulation mechanism circulating the coolant containing ethylene glycol to the engine while cooling it, temperature sensor measuring the temperature of the coolant having passed through the engine, and control device. The control device includes a number of cold starts counting unit determining engine cold start and counting the number of cold starts before coolant exchange, an accumulated amount of time measuring unit measuring an accumulated amount of time when the coolant temperature measured by the temperature sensor is a defined temperature or higher before the coolant exchange, and an exchange determination unit determining the need for coolant exchange, when the accumulated amount of time is a defined amount of time or greater and the number of cold starts is a defined number of times or greater.
Battery temperature control system
The present invention provides a battery temperature control system having a simple configuration and capable of immediately raising a battery temperature by actively using heat generated by an internal combustion engine. The battery temperature control system includes: an engine cooling circuit in which a coolant in an internal combustion engine is circulated between a coolant jacket and a radiator by a coolant pump; an exhaust heat recovery circuit in which a coolant in an EGR cooler that recovers exhaust heat of the internal combustion engine flows; a battery cooler-destined branch circuit that is branched from the engine cooling circuit and goes toward an upstream side of the battery cooler in the battery cooling circuit 11; and a channel switching mechanism that selectively connects a downstream side of at least one of the exhaust heat recovery circuit or the battery cooler-destined branch circuit to the upstream side of the battery cooler in the battery cooling circuit.

A vehicle thermal energy control system that is able to achieve improved heat management in the entirety of a vehicle is provided. A thermal energy control system is provided in a vehicle and includes heat sources and a heat amount distributor configured to assign a demanded heat amount calculated from heat demands generated in the entirety of the vehicle, to each heat source on the basis of a suppliable heat amount of each heat source.
Coolant Circuit in a Vehicle
A coolant circuit in a vehicle includes a first flow control unit disposed in a main duct between an engine and a radiator. The first flow control unit, as a function of a temperature of a coolant, thermostatically controls a flow of the coolant. A bypass duct is fluidically disposed parallel to the radiator where the bypass duct opens into the main duct after the radiator and branches off the main duct between the engine and the first flow control unit. A second flow control unit is disposed in the bypass duct where the second flow control unit is configured such that the second flow control unit opens or closes the bypass duct as a function of the temperature of the coolant.
