Center Device

Methods and apparatus provide for: facilitating communication between one or more controller devices operated by one or more users, respectively, and a data processing apparatus running an application program, wherein each controller device includes a plurality of actuation elements that are operable to be manipulated by a respective one of the one or more users to input desired operations to the data processing apparatus for use by the application program; obtaining a respective controller identifier from each of the one or more controller devices; and storing in a memory the controller identifiers in response to the control section in a sequential table, such that each entry in the sequential table includes at least a sequential table entry number and a respective one of the controller identifiers.

Virtual Performance System

Aspects of this disclosure relate to rewarding users of an electronic game for real-world physical activity. Further aspects relate to altering virtual items based upon physical activity. An electronic game may comprise or otherwise relate to an online world (such as a “Virtual World”). Users may be represented through customized graphical representations, such as avatars. An account of a user (or entity) may be associated a “virtual region.” A threshold level of real-world physical activity may result in obtaining a reward that may be associated with a virtual item. A reward may be configured to result in: (1) altering visual appearance of a virtual item within a virtual region; (2) altering a virtual characteristic of a virtual item, such that the first user may engage in at least one additional virtual activity using that virtual item; and/or (3) acquiring a new virtual item for a virtual region.

INFORMATION PROCESSING DEVICE AND INFORMATION PROCESSING METHOD
20210252382 · 2021-08-19 ·

There is provided an information processing device including a control unit configured to determine, on the basis of an item to be improved which item is set on the basis of a health index calculated from collected sensor information, an improving means to improve the item to be improved and a reward that is related to an amusement and that is served in a case where the item to be improved is improved, and configured to present contents of the improving means and the reward to a user, in which the control unit determines whether or not the item to be improved is improved on the basis of a variation in the health index, and makes a controlled object perform an operation corresponding to the reward on the basis of the determination that the item to be improved is improved.

EXTENSIBLE DICTIONARY FOR GAME EVENTS
20210220743 · 2021-07-22 ·

A game-agnostic event detector can be used to automatically identify game events. Event data for detected events can be written to an event log in a form that is both human- and process-readable. Descriptive text for the event data can come from a common event dictionary that is hierarchical in nature, such that events of the same type can be correlated across different games even though the precise nature or appearance of those events may be different. The event data can be used for various purposes, such as to generate highlight videos or provide player performance feedback.

Systems and methods for estimating and predicting emotional states and affects and providing real time feedback
11839473 · 2023-12-12 ·

Systems and methods for estimating emotional states, moods, affects of an individual and providing feedback to the individual or others are disclosed. Systems and methods that provide real time detection and monitoring of physical aspects of an individual and/or aspects of the individual's activity and means of estimating that person's emotional state or affect and change to those are also disclosed. Real time feedback to the individual about the person's emotional change, change or potential change is provided to the user, helping the user cope, adjust or appropriately act on their emotions.

Virtual reality

A virtual reality apparatus includes a head mountable display (HMD) to display video content; an orientation detector to detect a current orientation of the HMD; and a display generator to generate video content for display by the HMD, the video content representing a portion of a virtual environment, the display generator selecting the portion for display by the HMD in dependence upon: a current orientation of the HMD; and a location within the virtual environment of a feature of interest.

TECHNIQUES FOR VIRTUAL REALITY BOUNDARIES AND RELATED SYSTEMS AND METHODS
20210283503 · 2021-09-16 · ·

Described herein are techniques for providing an in-game virtual boundary. First data is received that is indicative of a user position while the user is playing a video game. It is determined whether the user position is within a warning zone, wherein the warning zone comprises an area between a soft boundary indicative of a safe area for the user and a safe boundary indicative of one or more real-world objects around the user. Based on a relationship between the user position and the safe boundary, a visual indication of a plurality of visual indications of the in-game virtual boundary is determined to provide to the user. Second data indicative of the visual indication is transmitted to a display being viewed by the user while playing the video game.

CONTRIBUTION DEGREE CALCULATION APPARATUS

A contribution degree calculation apparatus calculates a contribution degree of each of a plurality of players in a video game in which the plurality of players participate. The contribution degree calculation apparatus includes: a biological information obtainer configured to obtain biological information respectively corresponding to the plurality of players; a game data obtainer configured to obtain game data generated by the plurality of players playing the video game; a first calculator configured to calculate a first index related to a degree of an influence by one of the plurality of players to another player and a second index related to a mental load of the one player, from biological information corresponding to the one player; and a second calculator configured to calculate a contribution degree of the one player from the first index and the second index and from the game data.

Player biofeedback for dynamically controlling a video game state
10981054 · 2021-04-20 · ·

Various embodiments are directed towards employing one or more physical sensors arranged on or in proximity to a video game player to obtain biofeedback measures that are then usable to dynamically modify a state of play of a video game. The sensors may be connected or even unconnected to the game player, replace, or otherwise augment traditional physical game controllers. The sensors gather various biofeedback measures and provide such measures to a biofeedback application programming interface (API). Before and/or during video game play, the video game queries the biofeedback API to request inferences about the game player's state of arousal. The response to the query is then used to modify the state of the video game play. Where the video game is a multi-player video game, biofeedback measures from other game players may also be obtained and used to further modify the state of the video game play.
