DYNAMIC MONITORING OF THE FLOW RATE OF LIQUID ADDITIVE INJECTED INTO A MOTOR VEHICLE EXHAUST GAS TREATMENT SYSTEM
20210239021 · 2021-08-05 ·

Disclosed is a process for the dynamic monitoring of the flow rate of liquid additive consumed by a liquid-additive injector of an exhaust gas treatment system of a motor vehicle. The measurement of the pressure of the liquid makes it possible firstly to deduce the flow rate circulating through the orifice and secondly, by knowing the operating characteristic of the pump, to determine the flow rate of liquid additive actually delivered to the system for treating polluting gases. The process also provides a phase of characterizing the pump, including commanding the closure of the injector, measuring at least two pressure values for two different operating speeds of the pump, and updating the pump operating characteristics table on the basis of the pressure values measured.

Exhaust gas treatment system and method with reductant injection and close-coupled treatment element

An exhaust gas treatment system for an internal combustion engine includes an exhaust gas pathway configured to receive exhaust gas from the internal combustion engine and a first treatment element positioned within the exhaust gas pathway such that the first treatment element is close coupled to the engine. The first treatment element includes a NO.sub.x storage element. A first injector is configured to selectively introduce a first reductant into the exhaust gas pathway upstream of the first treatment element, and a second injector is configured to introduce a second reductant into the exhaust gas pathway downstream of the first treatment element. The system includes a second treatment element positioned within the exhaust gas pathway downstream of the second injector, and the second treatment element includes a selective catalytic reduction (SCR) element.

METHOD FOR MAINTAINING A FILTRATION DEVICE OF A SYSTEM FOR EXTRACTING A LIQUID FROM A TANK OF A MOTOR VEHICLE
20210291085 · 2021-09-23 ·

A method is disclosed for maintaining a filtration device of a system for extracting a liquid from a tank of a motor vehicle. The method is based on risk criteria for detecting (301) the choking of the device and on application criteria for identifying (302) a context favorable to the cleaning of the filtration device. The cleaning of the filtration device, based on generating (303) a reverse stream in the extraction system, is thus only triggered when specific, configurable conditions are identified.

Method for operating an internal combustion engine of a motor vehicle, in particular a motor car

A method for operating an internal combustion engine of a motor vehicle, which has an exhaust gas system that exhaust gas from at least one combustion chamber of the internal combustion chamber can flow through and includes at least one nitrogen oxide storage catalyst, at least one particulate filter, and at least one selective catalytic reduction (SCR) catalyst.

DOSING MODULE FOR USE IN AFTERTREATMENT SYSTEMS FOR INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINES

An aftertreatment system includes an inlet exhaust section, an outlet exhaust section, a first aftertreatment component, a first dosing module, and a second dosing module. The inlet exhaust section receives exhaust. The outlet exhaust section is in fluid communication with the inlet exhaust section. The first aftertreatment component receives the exhaust from the inlet exhaust section, treats the exhaust, and provides the exhaust to the outlet exhaust section. The first dosing module is positioned along the inlet exhaust section. The first dosing module is structured to selectively dose the exhaust with reductant. The second dosing module is positioned along the outlet exhaust section. The second dosing module is structured to selectively dose the exhaust with the reductant.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR PARTICULATE FILTER REGENERATION WITH CYLINDER DEACTIVATION

A system includes an exhaust aftertreatment system including a particulate filter and a controller. The controller is configured to: receive a particulate filter regeneration event trigger; receive information, the information comprising a temperature regarding the particulate filter; determine the temperature regarding the particulate filter is below a temperature threshold associated with a particulate filter regeneration event; and responsive to determining the temperature regarding the particulate filter is below the temperature threshold, command the engine to operate in a cylinder deactivation mode, whereby at least one cylinder of a plurality of cylinders of the engine is deactivated.

System, method, and apparatus for aftertreatment system monitoring

A method includes determining whether a urea refill event is detected, and clearing a quality accumulator value and clearing a latching abort command. The method includes determining whether urea fluid quality check abort conditions are met, and clearing the urea quality accumulator, latching the abort command, and exiting the reductant fluid quality check. In response to the abort conditions not being met, incrementing the urea quality accumulator according to an amount of urea being injected, and comparing the accumulated urea quantity to a low test threshold. The method includes, in response to the accumulated urea quantity being greater than the low test threshold, comparing the accumulated urea quantity to a high test threshold, and in response to the urea quantity being greater than the high test threshold, determining whether the a NO.sub.x exceedance is observed and clearing a urea quality error in response to the NO.sub.x exceedance not being observed.
