RAPID DIAGNOSTIC KIT FOR CENTRAL NERVOUS SYSTEM AFFLICTIONS AND TRAUMATIC BRAIN INJURIES
A method and system for diagnosing concussions, TBI, CTE and other central nervous system disorders is provided. A diagnostic kit includes a tube containing a predefined amount of lyophilized biomarker-specific antibody conjugated to a conjugate with a color functionality, a fluid for mixing with the lyophilized biomarker-specific antibody conjugated to the conjugate within the tube, so as to reconstitute the lyophilized biomarker-specific antibody conjugated to the conjugate, resulting in a reconstituted mixture, and a swab comprising an absorbent hydrophobic material, the swab configured for absorbing cerebrospinal fluid when swabbed on a patient, wherein when the swab that has absorbed cerebrospinal fluid is placed in the tube containing the reconstituted mixture, the swab is configured to change color.
MULTIPLEX POLYMERIC DYE DEVICES AND METHODS FOR USING THE SAME
Multiplex polymeric dye devices are provided. Aspects of the devices include a solid support, and first and second dried polymeric dye compositions distinctly positioned relative to a surface of the solid support. Aspects of the invention further include methods of making and using the devices, e.g., in analyte detection applications, as well as kits containing the devices.
Acoustically responsive particles
Acoustically responsive particles and methods are provided for their use. Methods are provided for making and using tunable, monodisperse acoustically responsive particles and negative contrast acoustic particles, wherein the particles can contain a functional group available for covalent modification.
Molecular characterization of circulating tumor cells
The disclosed invention includes methods and kits for the removal of white blood cells from samples of immunomagnetically enriched rare cells by treating the sample with a leukocyte marker conjugated to a hapten which adheres to the white blood cells and treating the resulting product with a second medium that adheres to the hapten of the white blood cells that are labeled with the leukocyte marker conjugated to hapten and removing the labeled white blood cells.
Assays for the detection of a blocking analyte
The present disclosure provides assays, such as lateral flow assays, and components thereof for detection of an analyte, e.g., a neutralizing antibody, that blocks binding of a first molecular component and a second molecular component of a molecular binding pair. In some embodiments, the disclosed assays and components thereof enable the rapid detection of a SARS-CoV-2 neutralizing antibody in a sample from an individual. Also provided in other aspects of the disclosure are devices, methods of making and using, and kits of the assays described herein.
SITE-SPECIFIC, KINETICALLY INERT CONJUGATION OF LABELS AND/OR CARRIERS TO TARGET MOLECULES SUCH AS HIS-TAGGED PROTEINS VIA METAL COMPLEX REAGENTS
The present invention relates to means and methods for conjugating/attaching target molecules such as proteins to a label and/or carrier. Specifically, the present invention provides a complex comprising a metal cation coordinating (i) a metal cation ligand being a carbonate selected from CO.sub.3.sup.2− and HCO.sub.3— and (ii) a metal cation chelating domain comprising a chelating ligand and a label and/or carrier. This complex can be used for attaching a label and/or a carrier to a target molecule, preferably a protein. The attachment of the label or carrier via the complex of the invention involves the replacement of the metal cation ligand with a coordinating group of the target molecule so that a product complex with the target molecule as primary ligand in the coordination sphere of the metal cation is formed. Accordingly, the present invention also provides for uses and methods involving the attachment of a label and/or carrier to a target molecule. Also provided are the products obtained by the labeling and or carrier-attaching methods of the invention and uses thereof. The invention further relates to methods for producing the complex of the invention and kits comprising the components for producing the complex of the invention.
USE OF GEL BEADS TO CONTROL DROPLET DISPERSION
A method of generating deformable gel beads that contain a single colloidal particle is described. Gel beads containing a particle are isolated from those that do not contain a particle, based on differences between the buoyant density of these gel bead populations. The gel beads containing a particle are subsequently co-encapsulated at a high efficiency into droplets that can comprise additional objects such as cells, other particles, or reagents. The gel coating on the rigid particle prevents clogging in narrow channels, such as those of a droplet generator.
METHOD FOR DETECTING CAUSATIVE BACTERIUM OF MASTITIS
An object of the present invention is to elucidate the cause of degradation of the reliability of detecting causative bacteria of environmental mastitis such as Escherichia coli, Klebsiella bacteria, Streptococcus bacteria, and CNS, and to provide a highly reliable detection means. Another object of the present invention is to provide a highly reliable detection means based on the immunochromatographic method, which enables quicker determination compared with the cultivation-based method, and a diagnosis kit using it. The present invention provides a method for detecting a causative bacterium of environmental mastitis of a livestock animal, which comprises: the step of determining whether number of the causative bacterium in a milk of a subject livestock animal is not smaller than a determination value defined beforehand on the basis of distribution of amounts of the causative bacterium in milks derived from a non-disease group and distribution of the amounts of causative bacterium in milks derived from a disease group by an immunological test method, and wherein the immunological test method is an immunochromatographic method using an antibody labeled with not less than 0.6/cm.sup.2 and not more than 3.5/cm.sup.2 of gold colloid particles (particle-labeled antibody).
SYNTHROCYTE: ERYTHROCYTE-MIMICKING REAGENT AND FAST METHODS FOR PATHOGEN CHARACTERIZATION AND SEROLOGY TESTING
The invention relates to coloured particles with particular mass density, diameters and surface charge comprising pathogen ligands immobilized. The particles are used in methods for detecting and/or characterizing pathogens present in isolated test samples, as well as in methods for detecting and/or characterizing pathogen-binding antibodies present in isolated test samples. A kit comprising the particles is also disclosed.
