Intervertebral implant with integrated fixation
A system for spinal surgery includes a prosthesis comprising a plurality of bone anchors which engage an intervertebral construct for fusion or motion preservation. The fusion construct comprises a spacer optionally encircled by a jacket. The motion preservation construct may comprise an articulating disc assembly or an elastomeric disc assembly. Any of the constructs may occupy the intervertebral disc space between adjacent vertebrae after removal of an intervertebral disc. The anchors slidingly engage the construct to securely fix the prosthesis to the vertebrae. The anchors and jacket of the fusion construct provide a continuous load path across opposite sides of the prosthesis so as to resist antagonistic motions of the spine.
Method and means to attach anchor suture onto mesh implants
Novel stay suture devices and stay suture combinations with meshes are disclosed. The stay suture devices have a clip and a suture. The clip has leg members that are mounted to a hernia mesh implant such that the leg members are locked in a closed configuration. Also disclosed are novel methods of mounting stay sutures to a surgical mesh implant and repairing a body wall defect such as a hernia defect.
Single plane tissue repair patch
A novel single plane tissue repair device such as a patch is disclosed. The device has a base member with an opening therethrough, and a closure member associated with the opening. The mesh has a biaborbable polymeric adhesion barrier attached to the bottom side of the base member about its periphery to form a pocket that is accessible through the opening. The mesh may be used in open surgical procedures for hernia repairs and other repairs of body wall defects.
Single plane tissue repair patch having a locating structure
A novel single plane tissue repair patch is disclosed. The patch has a base member with an opening therethrough, and a closure member associated with the opening. Mounted to the periphery of the bottom side of the base member is a locating structure. The mesh may be used in open surgical procedures for hernia repairs and other repairs of body wall defects.
Intervertebral disc prosthesis, surgical methods, and fitting tools
An intervertebral disc prosthesis designed to be substituted for fibrocartilaginous discs ensures a connection between the vertebra of the vertebra column or the end of the latter. The prosthesis includes a pair of plates spaced from each other by a nucleus. The prosthesis has increased stability by providing the nucleus with a translation or rotation stop, or by inducing an angular correction between its plates contacting vertebra, or a combination of these characteristics. The stop includes parts external to the nucleus and contact surfaces perpendicular to their contact directions. Surgical methods and instrumentation for implanting the prosthesis are also described.
UNCAGING STENT
A stent (scaffold) or other luminal prosthesis comprising circumferential structural elements which provides high strength after deployment and allows for scaffold to uncage, and/or allow for scaffold or luminal expansion thereafter. The circumferential scaffold may be formed from degradable material, or may be formed from non-degradable material and will be modified to expand and/or uncage after deployment.
Flexible embolic double filter
An intraluminal filtration device for embolic protection includes a device body and each of a coarse filter and a fine filter, for filtering larger-size and smaller-size particles, respectively. The device body includes a body wall extending circumferentially around the longitudinal axis, and being formed at least in part of an organic gel.
OCULAR INSERT DEVICE
The present invention has an object to provide an ocular insert device that can be stably placed under the eyelid without giving a feeling of insertion of a foreign body to a user and that can store a larger volume of drug as compared to a conventional system. The ocular insert device 100 includes a storage main body 1 that is formed to be a seed-shaped piece having a predetermined width so as to be located under an eyelid and that stores a drug. The storage main body 1 has a held portion 1a in which a surface that comes into contact with the eyelid can be held by a tarsal plate 52.
INTRAVASCULAR IMPLANTS
A radially expandable, tubular stent, includes a first section having a first crush resistance force and a second section have a second crush resistance force, wherein the first crush resistance force is less than the second crush resistance force. The first section is connected to the second section to form a tube, connection of the first and second sections extending in an axial direction of the tube.
Distal protection devices having controllable wire motion
A distal protection device for use in a body lumen includes a functional element, which may be a filter or an occlusive element. The device includes a first elongate member, a second elongate member carried by the first elongate member, and the functional element carried by the second elongate member. Motion of the first elongate member can be independent of the motion of the functional element.
