System and method for haptic navigation
12203770 · 2025-01-21 · ·

A haptic navigation system is disclosed, comprising a haptic navigation device with one or more sensors, including an angular sensor, to detect the angle between the device's orientation and a target. The system also includes a vibration motor that generates haptic feedback based on mapped patterns derived from the device's orientation relative to the target. A central processing unit (CPU) interprets the angular data from the sensor, translates it into dynamic haptic patterns, and controls the vibration motor accordingly. The system further includes a memory to store the mapping of the dynamic haptic patterns and a graphic user interface (GUI) to interact with the haptic feedback. This haptic navigation system provides users with tactile guidance and enhances their interaction with electronic devices.

Among other things, one or more client devices, techniques, and/or systems are provided for providing linear route conditions. A linear route condition interface, presented to a user, may comprise a linear route representation (e.g., represented by a horizontal or vertical bar) of a route from a starting location to a destination location. The linear route representation depicts a first road segment, populated with a traffic flow indicator, a second road segment, populated with a second traffic flow indicator, and/or any other number of road segments between the starting location and the destination location. Responsive to identifying user indication of interest for the first road segment, supplementary information about traffic conditions on the first road segment are presented to the user. Responsive to identifying user indication of interest for the second road segment, supplementary information about traffic conditions on the second road segment are presented to the user.

System and method for providing directions haptically
09829338 · 2017-11-28 ·

Systems, methods, and computer-readable storage devices for providing directions haptically such that sight and hearing can continue unimpeded. In one exemplary embodiment, a system configured as disclosed herein receives directions to an intended destination for a user, the directions comprising a movement action and a distance to the movement action. The system generates, via a processor, a left signal component and a right signal component based on the directions. The system transmits the left signal component to a left haptic output unit and transmits the right signal component to a right haptic output unit, such that the directions are communicated to the user via the left haptic output unit and the right haptic output unit.

INDICATING THE GEOGRAPHIC ORIGIN OF A DIGITALLY-MEDIATED COMMUNICATION

Technologies are described for indicating a geographic origin of a digitally-mediated communication relative to a location of a recipient by presenting the indication in an augmented reality scene. For example, an augmented reality scene can be presented to the recipient. The geographic origin of an incoming digital communication may be determined and a relative location of the origin with respect to the recipient's location may be computed. A format for presenting the relative location may be derived from the digital communication and the geographic origin. The augmented reality scene may be updated with the relative location based on the derived format. Techniques for integrating digital communications, location-based services, and augmented reality applications can enhance the recipient's experience by providing a perceptual solution to the loss of certain fundamental aspects of natural communication, such as the ability to instantly determine the geographic origin or relative location of an incoming digital communication.

INTERFACE SELECTION IN NAVIGATION GUIDANCE SYSTEMS

Systems, methods, and related technologies are provided for enhanced navigation instruction. In one implementation, a likelihood of non-compliance by a user with the navigation instruction can be determined with respect to a navigation instruction, based on the likelihood of non-compliance by the user with the navigation instruction. One or more interfaces at which to provide a notification that corresponds to the navigation instruction can be selected. The notification can be provided via the selected interface(s). Various other technologies are also disclosed.

Method and apparatus for receiving user estimation of navigational instructions

A method, apparatus and computer program product are provided in order to provide navigational instructions in a manner that does not require the user to view the navigational instructions. In the context of a method, user input is received that is representative of an estimation by the user of a navigational instruction. The method also determines whether the estimation by the user matches the navigational instruction. Further, the method causes feedback to be generated at least in an instance in which the estimation by the user fails to match the navigational instruction. A corresponding apparatus and computer program product are also disclosed.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS TO DIRECT FOOT TRAFFIC

Systems and methods for directing foot traffic are disclosed. Crowd data is gathered from one or more crowd data sources to monitor crowd densities of a geographic area. Locations are received for pedestrian client devices within the geographic area. Augmented reality commands are determined and supplied to the pedestrian client devices to direct movement of users, generally away from more dense zones and toward less dense zones within the geographic area. The augmented reality commands may direct haptic augmented reality output by a pedestrian client device and/or an accessory associated therewith.
