ELECTROCHEMICAL METHODS FOR SAMPLE PRETREATMENT FOR METALS DETERMINATION AND RELATED APPARATUS
20200173891 · 2020-06-04 ·

The disclosure relates to a method for pretreating a sample for metals determination. The method includes: providing an aqueous sample mixture comprising a sample containing or suspected of containing one or more metals for detection; contacting the aqueous sample mixture with a first electrode (anode) comprising electrically conducting boron-doped diamond (BDD); electrically contacting the aqueous sample mixture with a second electrode (cathode); applying an electrical potential between the first electrode and the second electrode (i) to provide an electrical current therebetween and through the aqueous sample mixture, (ii) to generate hydroxyl ion (OH.sup.) species at the first electrode, (iii) to oxidize and free the one or more metals for detection in the sample, thereby forming a pretreated aqueous sample comprising free metal ions in aqueous solution and corresponding to the one or more metals in the original sample; and withdrawing the pretreated aqueous sample comprising the free metal ions in aqueous solution. The pretreated aqueous sample can be analyzed for metal content using any desired conventional analysis technique.

Systems and methods for detecting metal ion concentrations in subjects

A method of selective detection of a concentration of a metal ion species in a subject is provided in which a biofluid sample is obtained from the subject. The biofluid sample is exposed to a functionalized porous aromatic polymer. The polymer selectively captures and concentrates the metal ion species from the biofluid. Subsequently, the biofluid is washed from the polymer. The polymer is then exposed to a solution comprising a colorimetric indicator that extracts the metal ion species from the washed polymer thereby changing a color of the solution as a function of an amount of the metal ion species in the polymer. The concentration of the metal ion species in the subject is then spectroscopically determined from the color of the solution.

Method of using an Electronic Chemically Sensitive Resistor Array for the Differentiation of Synthetic and Authentic Urine Specimens

The method uses a device which measures the volatile organic compounds (VOCs) present in headspaces of fluid samples to differentiate between authentic and synthetic urine samples. The method includes the use of a device which includes an array of resistive microchemical sensors. The device may be exposed to samples of synthetic and authentic urine to identify a pattern of VOCs in each, these steps being referred to herein as training the device. The device may then be exposed to a urine sample of unknown authenticity and a pattern of VOCs identified. The pattern of VOCs from the urine sample of unknown authenticity may be compared to those of synthetic and authentic urine. In some embodiments the device is installed in a toilet. The method may be used to identify a false sample provided for a urine analysis intended to screen for use of illicit drugs.

Methods of fabricating and operating a solid-state zinc sensor

Embodiments of the invention are directed to a solid-state zinc sensor. A non-limiting example of the sensor includes a semiconductor substrate. The sensor can also include an assembly surface on the semiconductor substrate. The sensor can also include a zinc detection monolayer chemically bound to the assembly surface. The sensor can also include a power supply electrically connected to the semiconductor substrate.

Hybridoma cell line of secreting meloxicam monoclonal antibodies and application thereof

A hybridoma cell line of secreting meloxicam monoclonal antibodies with a preservation number of hybridoma cell line of CGMCC No. 14700 belongs to the field of food safety immunological detection. The. BALB/c mice are immunized through one time immunization with complete freund's adjuvant, three times of booster immunization with incomplete freund's adjuvant and one time of rush immunization with meroxicam complete antigen without adjuvant; the spleen cells from BALB/C mice immunized with high potency and low value of IC50 are fused with murine myeloma cells; and then the hybridoma cell line is obtained through indirect competitive ELISA screening and three sub-clones. The monoclonal antibody secreted by this cell line has good specificity and detection sensitivity to meloxicam (value of IC50 is 0.1 ng/ml), being suitable for detection of meroxicam in food.
