Dual-polarization rippled reflector antenna
An antenna may include a reflector and a multi-band feed assembly. A support member may be coupled to the multi-band feed assembly to orient the multi-band feed assembly for direct illumination of the reflector. The multi-band feed assembly may include first and second feeds, each having a respective septum polarizer coupled between a respective common waveguide and a respective pair of waveguides. A housing of the support member may contain the respective septum polarizers and the respective pairs of waveguides.
Multiple-band compact, near-field-to-far-field and direct far-field test range
The invention discloses a hybrid compact, near-field-to-far-field and direct-far-field test system in an anechoic chamber. It comprises a curved reflector with its primary feed antenna set situated on a lateral side and pointing towards it, a secondary feed antenna set pierced to the reflector or in front of it, and one or several sets of antennas or devices under test (AUT/DUT), and their 3D turntable tower placed at a quiet zone, for which roll, elevation and azimuth can change. In a receive process, the primary antenna set transmits several signals towards the reflector, which reflects these signals towards the quiet zone in the form of planar wavefronts. The secondary antenna set also transmits several signals, but directly towards the quiet zone in spherical wavefronts. The AUT/DUT receives all these signals simultaneously. Through reciprocity, a similar measurement process for transmission can be performed.
Mitigation of polarization mismatch between reflector and feed antennas by feed predistortion
An apparatus and method for mitigating polarization mismatch in reflector antenna systems. A feed unit is configured to determine a polarization mismatch between a first polarization associated with a first wave and a second polarization associated with a reflector unit. The feed unit pre-distorts the first wave to achieve a compensated polarization for reducing and/or eliminating a polarization mismatch. The pre-distorted first wave having the compensated polarization is used to illuminate the reflector unit. A re-radiated wave is reflected by the reflector unit. Furthermore, the level of the re-radiated wave is increased as a result of the pre-distortion.
Helically corrugated horn antenna and helically corrugated waveguide system
The present disclosure relates to a horn antenna or waveguide system comprising a corrugated horn or waveguide, wherein the corrugation takes the form of a helical spiral along the inner surface of the horn or waveguide. The present disclosure further relates to radar antenna.
Conformal phased arrays
Embodiments are directed configurations of antenna elements for conformal phased arrays (e.g., circular or cylindrical) to support either omnidirectional or directional high-gain beams. Antenna elements may be spaced about a circle or cylinder with a vertical and circumferential element spacing that is based on a wavelength of an operational frequency. Such a configuration of antenna elements enables easy scaling to different frequency bands and a straightforward extension from single-linear to dual-linear polarization. Furthermore, the antenna elements and their configurations enable conformal phased arrays to be formed as one integrated structure or with multiple modular structures.
Continuous resonance trap refractor based antenna
A plurality of tapered core waveguides which may be configured as a spectral component splitter, a spectral component combiner, and various combinations thereof, form a compact antenna array which may receive and/or transmit energy, act to form and steer a transmitted beam, act to discern received signals, and offer capability of multi frequency operation as well as controlled polarization.
RADIO TRANSCEIVER WITH ANTENNA ARRAY FORMED BY HORN-ANTENNA ELEMENTS
An antenna array formed by horn-antenna elements perpendicularly mounted on a body frame spherical or hemispherical in shape provides a wide field of view (FOV) of at least 180°. A radio transceiver uses the antenna array instead of a phased array antenna for easily tracking a moving object, e.g., a satellite, due to the wide FOV and for receiving an incoming signal therefrom. To steer an outgoing signal along a desired propagation direction, the transceiver transmits the outgoing signal on a preferred antenna element having a boresight direction closest to the desired propagation direction. The outgoing signal is non-mechanically steered and, in contrast to using the phased array antenna, a power amplifier of the radio transceiver needs not generate component signals satisfying precise relationships in phase and amplitude for beam steering. Thus, the power amplifier is allowed to be operated at a lower power backoff for improving power efficiency.
HIGH-PERFORMANCE DUAL-POLARIZED ANTENNA FEED CHAIN
Antenna feed chains and methods are disclosed. An antenna feed chain, include a feed horn having a first cross-polarization performance over a solid angle of interest and a frequency band of interest and a polarizer having a second cross-polarization performance over the solid angle of interest and the frequency band of interest. The polarizer is coupled to the feed horn. The first cross-polarization performance of the feed horn compensates for the second cross-polarization performance of the polarizer over the solid angle of interest and the frequency band of interest.
