Power Amplification Device
A power amplification device, including a first amplification branch, a second amplification branch, a harmonic injection circuit, and a first output matching circuit. A first amplifier in the first amplification branch supports a first frequency. A second amplifier in the second amplification branch supports the first frequency and a second frequency, and the second amplifier is turned off for a signal of the first frequency that has a power value lower than an enabling threshold. The harmonic injection circuit injects a signal of the second frequency that is input from a second input terminal (I2) to a signal of the first frequency that is input from a first input terminal (I1) to obtain a signal of the first frequency that has undergone harmonic injection.
Radio frequency splitter
A multichannel splitter formed from 1 to 2 splitters. An input terminal of a first 1 to 2 splitter defines an input of the multichannel splitter. The 1 to 2 splitters are electrically series-connected. First respective outputs of the 1 to 2 splitters define output terminals of the multichannel splitter.
Amplifier circuit and method
An amplifier arrangement comprises N amplifier stages, wherein N is an integer equal or greater than four. The amplifier arrangement comprises a cascade of quarter wavelength transmission lines coupled between an output of an amplifier of a first amplifier stage and an output node of the amplifier arrangement, wherein the cascade comprises N−1 quarter wavelength transmission lines. An amplifier of the Nth stage is coupled to the output node, and remaining amplifiers between the first and Nth stages coupled to successive junctions in the cascade of quarter wavelength transmission lines. The amplifier arrangement is further configured such that the amplifier of the Nth stage is coupled to the output node via a connecting quarter wavelength transmission line, and whereby each of the remaining amplifiers of the N−2 stages closest to the output node is coupled by a respective connecting quarter wavelength transmission line to a respective junction of the cascade of quarter wavelength transmission lines.

A RADIO FREQUENCY POWER AMPLIFIER
A power amplifier is described that includes a balanced amplifier arrangement having an input quadrant coupler and output quadrant coupler and two amplifiers, which may include or consist of single transistors, there between. The power amplifier also can provide a signal to an isolated port of the output coupler in order to provide impedance matching. This arrangement dispenses with the need for transistor matching networks at the output of the two amplifiers, which in turn enables the power amplifier to be operable over a wider frequency range as compared with a Doherty power amplifier.
SINGLE-INPUT BROADBAND DOHERTY-HDMAX CONTINUUM POWER AMPLIFIER
Described herein is a single-input hybrid Doherty power amplifier (PA). Unlike the conventional 214 Doherty PA inverter which only performs the correct load modulation at its center frequency, the hybrid Doherty PA (HDω-PA) combiner network achieves a wideband load modulation using the frequency dependence of the electrical length of the output combiner lines versus frequency for sliding the PA mode of operation. A modified theory is presented herein to allow for a single-input PA implementation. In this design, the outphasing angle is only changing with frequency and not the input power. A transmission line phase shifter is used to provide the correct frequency-dependent input phase offset ensuring the correct wideband load modulation performed by the output combiner
EFFICIENT OUTPUT POWER COMBINING DIGITAL MICROWAVE RADIO SYSTEM
A digital microwave radio system includes a splitter that splits a common baseband input into two baseband outputs, first and second transmitters, each transmitter electrically connected to a baseband output of the splitter via a mixer, a common local oscillator electrically connected to the mixer of the first transmitter and the mixer of the second transmitter via an adjustable phase shifter, respectively, and a combiner. The common local oscillator is configured to up-convert each baseband output into a radio-frequency signal using a corresponding mixer. The combiner combines the two radio-frequency signals into a 0-degree phase-shift output and a 180-degree phase-shift output, respectively. A phase error control loop adjusts the phase shifter to minimize the 180-degree phase-shift radio-frequency output. A combiner gain control loop adjusts the output power level of the two transmitters in accordance with an actual power detector reading at the 0-degree phase-shift radio-frequency output.
