In some embodiments, the method includes providing a substrate; fabricating a first electrode on the substrate; and fabricating a second electrode such that the second electrode is separated from the first electrode by a non-electrically conducting region, wherein the non-electrically conducting region has a non-uniform permittivity (K) value. The capacitor devices will find benefit for use in electric vehicles, of all kinds, uninterruptible power supplies, wind turbines, mobile phones, and the like requiring wide temperature ranges from several hundreds of degrees C. down to absolute zero, consumer electronics operating in a temperature range of 55 degrees C. to 125 degrees C.

A power storage device has a power storage element and an electrolytic solution. The power storage element includes an anode body, a cathode body opposed to the anode body, and a separator interposed between the anode body and the cathode body. The separator includes a separator base material and a conductive polymer deposited on the separator base material. The power storage element is impregnated with the electrolytic solution. The separator has a first surface layer, which includes a first surface opposed to the anode body, and a second surface layer, which includes a second surface opposed to the cathode body. The first surface layer has a first region in which the conductive polymer is deposited, and the second surface layer has a second region in which the conductive polymer is not deposited.

An electricity storage device uses a high-pressure gas medium to store electricity from a power supply having a positive electrode and a negative electrode. The storage device includes a body unit, an electric charge storage unit, and a charge/discharge unit. The body unit comprises a case by which a containment space is surrounded and defined. The electric charge storage unit is disposed in the containment space and comprises a Class 1 gas and a Class 2 gas. The Class 1 gas is an insulator, while the Class 2 gas is a conductor. The charge/discharge unit is disposed in the containment space and comprises a positive component connected to the positive electrode of the power supply, and a negative component connected to the negative electrode of the power supply. The positive and negative components are interleaved with each other, so that electricity from the power supply is stored by the electric charge storage unit.

High-voltage capacitor

A high-voltage capacitor includes a gas-tight enclosure containing interleaved electrodes. The dielectric of the capacitor is a pressurized gas at a pressure of at least 6 bar, and preferably 10 or 15 bar. In order to withstand this level of internal pressure, the insulating body section of the capacitor may be formed of a high-strength polymeric material.

High-voltage capacitor

A high-voltage capacitor includes a gas-tight enclosure containing interleaved electrodes. The dielectric of the capacitor is a pressurized gas at a pressure of at least 6 bar, and preferably 10 or 15 bar. In order to withstand this level of internal pressure, the insulating body section of the capacitor may be formed of a high-strength polymeric material.

A high power, low passive inter-modulation capacitor is presented, which is formed using metal clad substrates, which are broad-side coupled through a thin air gap. Each substrate may include metal layers affixed on both sides which are electrical coupled together to form a single capacitor plate, or each substrate may have only a single metal layer on the surface adjacent to the air gap. The capacitor has particular application in low cost RF and microwave filters, which may be used in communication equipment and communication test equipment such a diplexers, for low PIM applications.
