A system and a method that enable two or more dispersed platforms to simultaneously use respective frequency-modulated continuous-wave radar systems in a typical radar application such as synthetic-aperture radar for terrain mapping, moving-target indicator radar to track targets on the ground and air-to-air tracking of other aircraft. The systems use the same RF spectrum in their operation and also communicate through their respective radar systems while simultaneously reducing their interplatform interference through the use of both filters and coded waveforms.

A mixer circuitry comprises a mixer, a local oscillator (LO) leakage detector, a digital LO leakage cancellation controller and a DAC arrangement. The mixer is configured to mix a first LO signal having an LO frequency f.sub.LO with an intermediate frequency (IF) signal and generate an output signal, i.e. a wanted signal. The LO leakage detector measures the LO leakage at the output of the mixer in the presence of the wanted signal. Then in the digital LO leakage cancellation controller, a digital algorithm is run that automatically adjusts the LO leakage in the mixer by steering the digital-to-analog converter arrangement such that the intermediate frequency input signal level to the mixer is adjusted.

Aspects of this disclosure relate to a very low intermediate frequency (VLIF) receiver with multi-decade contiguous radio frequency (RF) band coverage. Non-quadrature local oscillator (LO) signals drive mixers. The non-quadrature signals can be generated from low noise digital dividers having non-traditional division ratios. The non-traditional division ratios can be prime number ratios such as 5 and 7. The systematic non-quadrature nature of the LO/mixer can be subsequently corrected by a deterministic I-Q coupling network prior to complex signal processing.

The present invention provides a receiver having an input node, a blocker detector, a translational filter and a low-noise amplifier. The input node is arranged to receive an input signal. The blocker detector is configured to detect if the input signal has a blocker to generate a detection result. The translational filter is configured to filter out an output-of-band blocker of the input signal to generate a filtered input signal at the input node or not filter output the output-of-band blocker of the input signal according to the detection result. The low-noise amplifier is configured to receive the filtered input signal or the input signal to generate an amplified input signal.

Low power local oscillator

A local oscillator device includes an oscillator module including a first inductive element and a capacitive element coupled in parallel with the inductive element. A frequency divider is coupled to the oscillator module for delivering a local oscillator signal. The local oscillator device includes an autotransformer including the first inductive element and two second inductive elements respectively coupled to the terminals of the first inductive element and to two output terminals of the autotransformer, the output terminals being further coupled to input terminals of the frequency divider.
