Amplifier for driving a capacitive load
It is disclosed an amplifier for driving a capacitive load, comprising an input terminal adapted to receive an input voltage signal, an output terminal adapted to drive the capacitive load, a linear amplification stage, switching amplification stage, a capacitor, a first switch and a measurement and control circuit. The measurement and control circuit is configured to: measure the value of the current generated at the output from the linear amplification stage and generate a driving voltage signal of the switching amplification stage; generate the first switching signal to open the first switch and generate an enabling signal to enable the operation of at least part of the switching amplification stage; generate the first switching signal to close the first switch and generate the enabling signal to disable the operation of the switching amplification stage; generate the first switching signal to open the first switch.
Method and device for selectively supplying voltage to multiple amplifiers by using switching regulators
Various embodiments disclose a method and a device including: an antenna, a switching regulator, communication chip including an amplifier and a linear regulator operably connected to the amplifier and the switching regulator, the communication chip configured to transmit a radio-frequency signal from the electronic device through the antenna, and control circuitry configured to control the communication chip such that the linear regulator provides the amplifier with a voltage corresponding to an envelope of an input signal input to the amplifier, the input signal corresponding to the radio-frequency signal.
DOHERTY AMPLIFIER
A Doherty amplifier includes a divider configured to divide an input signal into two signals, a first amplifier configured to amplify one of the two signals and output the amplified signal to a first node, a second amplifier configured to amplify the other of the two signals and output the amplified signal to a second node, a balun including lumped parameter elements and configured to output a signal obtained by combining the signal output from the first amplifier with the signal output from the second amplifier to a third node, and a path configured to DC-connect the first node to the second node, with the third node therebetween.
Power amplifier circuit
A power amplifier circuit includes a first power supply terminal electrically connected to a first power amplifier; a second power supply terminal electrically connected to a second power amplifier subsequent to the first power amplifier; a first external power supply line configured to electrically connect a power supply circuit configured to output a power supply potential corresponding to an amplitude level of a high-frequency input signal and the first power supply terminal; and a second external power supply line configured to electrically connect the power supply circuit and the second power supply terminal. An inductance value of the first external power supply line is higher than an inductance value of the second external power supply line.
Radio frequency front-end
A radio frequency front-end is disclosed having a first power amplifier (PA) having a first PA input and a first PA output, a second PA having a second PA input and a second PA output, and a low-noise amplifier (LNA) having an LNA output connected to a receive output terminal and an LNA input. An input 90° hybrid coupler has a first port input connected to a transmit terminal, a second port input connected to a fixed voltage node through an isolation impedance, a third port output connected to the first amplifier input and a fourth port output connected to the second amplifier input. An output 90° hybrid coupler has a first port output connected to a common terminal, a second port output connected to the LNA input, a third port input connected to the second PA output, and a fourth port input connected to the first PA output.
Quadrature combined Doherty amplifiers
Apparatus and methods for quadrature combined Doherty amplifiers are provided herein. In certain embodiments, a separator is used to separate a radio frequency (RF) input signal into a plurality of input signal components that are amplified by a pair of Doherty amplifiers operating in quadrature. Additionally, a combiner is used to combine a plurality of output signal components generated by the pair of Doherty amplifiers, thereby generating an RF output signal exhibiting quadrature balancing.
Amplifier
Provided is an amplifier that includes a first transistor including a gate terminal to which an applied input signal is input, where a current depending on the applied input signal flows through the first transistor. A gate terminal of a second transistor is connected to a load section, and a current depending on a change in a voltage of the drain terminal of the first transistor flows through the second transistor. A source terminal of the first transistor and a drain terminal of the second transistor are connected in common to a first resistance, and the current from the first transistor and the current from the second transistor flow through the first resistance. A third transistor supplies a current approximately equal to the current of the second transistor. The current supplied by the third transistor is output from an output end.
Variable gain amplifier
A variable gain amplifier includes a first transistor group which is connected to an input terminal and an output terminal, and which amplifies a signal from the input terminal to output the amplified signal to the output terminal; a second transistor group connected to the input terminal; a third transistor group connected to the output terminal; and a controller configured to control the first transistor group, the second transistor group, and the third transistor group so that a total number of the number of transistors to be turned on in the first transistor group and the second transistor group is kept at a constant value, and total numbers of transistors to be turned on in the first transistor group and in the third transistor group are the same.

Apparatus and methods for power amplifiers with positive envelope feedback
Apparatus and methods for power amplifiers with positive envelope feedback are provided herein. In certain implementations, a power amplifier system includes a power amplification stage that amplifies a radio frequency signal, at least one envelope detector that generates one or more detection signals indicating an output signal envelope of the power amplification stage, and a wideband feedback circuit that provides positive envelope feedback to a bias of the power amplification stage based on the one or more detection signals. The power amplifier system further includes a supply modulator that controls a voltage level of a supply voltage of the power amplification stage based on the one or more detection signals such that the supply voltage is modulated with the output signal envelope through positive envelope feedback.
