A method of generating an image includes receiving a video stream, the video stream having a two-dimensional video of a three-dimensional scene captured by a video camera; determining a mapping between locations in the two-dimensional video of the scene and locations in a three-dimensional representation of the scene, the mapping being determined based on a known parameter of the video camera and a known size of a feature in the three-dimensional scene; generating a three-dimensional graphical representation of the scene based on the determined mapping; determining a virtual camera angle from which the three-dimensional graphical representation of the scene is to be viewed; rendering an image corresponding to the graphical representation of the scene viewed from the determined virtual camera angle, and outputting the rendered image for display.

In one aspect, a method includes receiving, from a device of a user, a plurality of player selections for a first team, calculating an overall team rating for the first team, calculating a number of scoring chances for the first team, simulating, based on the number of scoring chances, a first portion of the game until a predetermined type of interaction between the first team and the second team occurs, displaying the predetermined type of interaction, providing control of the first team for predetermined type of interaction, simulating, based on the number of scoring chances, a second portion of the game until a second predetermined type of interaction occurs, displaying the second predetermined type of interaction, providing control of the first team for the second predetermined type of interaction.

Systems and techniques for enhancing the physical games with augmented reality is described. A system identifies a characteristic of a physical object that is located on a physical surface. The system obtains, based on the characteristic, information indicative of a rule set for the game and a state of the game based on the characteristic. A game engine is initialized based on the rule set and game state. The game engine generates a subsequent state for the game. The system renders, based on the subsequent state, an augmented reality display that incorporates the physical surface and physical object.

AUTOMATIC GENERATION OF VIDEO PLAYBACK EFFECTS
In various examples, recordings of gameplay sessions are enhanced by the application of special effects to relatively high(er) and/or low(er) interest durations of the gameplay sessions. Durations of relatively high(er) or low(er) predicted interest in a gameplay session are identified, for instance, based upon level of activity engaged in by a gamer during a particular gameplay session duration. Once identified, different variations of video characteristic(s) are applied to at least a portion of the identified durations for implementation during playback. The recordings may be generated and/or played back in real-time with a live gameplay session, or after completion of the gameplay session. Further, video data of the recordings themselves may be modified to include the special effects and/or indications of the durations and/or variations may be included in metadata and used for playback.
DETERMINING HIGH-INTEREST DURATIONS OF GAMEPLAY SESSIONS FROM USER INPUTS
In various examples, durations of relatively high user activity within a gameplay session may be determined from user input events using a running user activity measurement. Once a duration is identified, it may be further analyzed to merge the duration with one or more other durations and/or to determine or predict whether the duration would be of sufficient interest for further action. A user interest score for an identified duration may be computed based on a set of the user input events that occur in the duration and used to determine and/or predict whether the duration would be of sufficient interest for further action. In some cases, an action may be performed based on determining the user interest score is greater than a statistical value that is computed from user interest scores of multiple identified durations.

A server system reproduces a past gameplay based on original data in a virtual three-dimensional space and displays the scenes of the gameplay on a user terminal of a live commentary user. Along with this, the server system causes a live commentary object having not existed in the original gameplay to appear in the virtual three-dimensional space in accordance with a live commentary addition operation by the live commentary user, and adds an additional virtual camera (additional camera CM1) to the virtual three-dimensional space to modify the reproduction play of the original gameplay. The server system generates modified reproduction data capable of reproducing a modified reproduction play and manages the modified reproduction data in association with the original data.
