The aluminum oxide layer is provided below the coating insulator and extends along a top surface of the redistribution line conductor, and the aluminum oxide layer is in contact with the redistribution line conductor.

A semiconductor die includes a substrate, a first passivation layer over the substrate, and a second passivation layer over the first passivation layer and the substrate. The substrate has boundaries defined by a substrate termination edge. The first passivation layer is over the substrate such that it terminates at a first passivation termination edge that is inset from the substrate termination edge by a first distance. The second passivation layer is over the first passivation layer and the substrate such that it terminates at a second passivation termination edge that is inset from the substrate termination edge by a second distance. The second distance is less than the first distance such that the second passivation layer overlaps the first passivation layer.

In an embodiment, a method for manufacturing and passivating a die includes providing the die having an active frontside including a protrusion, the protrusion configured for electrically contacting the die, covering a portion of the protrusion by a passivation tape before applying a passivation layer, applying the passivation layer on all sides of the die including the frontside and its protrusion in one single process, except on the portion covered by the passivation tape and detaching the passivation tape from the covered portion of the protrusion after applying the passivation layer to expose the portion of the protrusion which forms an electrical contact area.

A first distance between an upper surface of the top wiring and the top interlayer insulating film in the thickness direction is 2.7 μm or more.

An atomic orbital based memory storage is provided that includes a plurality of surface atoms forming dangling bonds (DBs) and a subset of the plurality of surface atoms passivated with spatial control to form covalent bonds with hydrogen, deuterium, or a combination thereof. The atomic orbital based data storage that can be rewritten and corrected as needed. The resulting data storage is also archival and capable of high data densities than any known storage as the data is retained in a binary storage or a given orbital being passivated or a dangling bond (DB). A method of forming and reading the atomic orbital data storage is also provided. The method including selectively removing covalent bonds to form dangling bonds (DBs) extending from a surface atom by hydrogen lithography and imaging the covalent bonds spatially to read the atomic orbital data storage.
