SINGLE PORT FOR MINIMALLY INVASIVE SURGERY
A single port for minimally invasive surgery includes: a base having a cover guide, a first annular flange, and a knob; a channel unit having a second annular flange, a cover, and a plurality of introduction channels; a coupling unit securing the second annular flange to the first annular flange; a wound retractor having a wound retractor membrane, an outer ring, and an inner ring; and a connector connecting the wound retractor to the base.
Adjustable liposuction cannula
A device for removing fat from a body can include a pair of nested hollow members that each has at least one opening and an adjustment means for adjusting the orientation of the nested hollow members from a first configuration to a second configuration to change an amount of overlap between openings in the nested hollow members. The nested members can be deformable to change the shape of the openings.
Surgical tissue protection sheath
A surgical sheath adapted for use in the nasal cavity has an elongated hollow body made of a braided material having interstitial spaces with a dimension of 0.25 mm to 1.50 mm. The interstitial spaces filled with a filling material, such as silicone. The sheath has a low profile configuration during placement into the naris, and may be stretched into an expanded configuration. In methods of placing the sheath in the naris, the sheath is folded and then pulled into the naris using a surgical tool.
Radially expandable cannula devices, and systems and methods for using them
Cannula devices, systems, and methods are provided for introducing one or more instruments into a patient's body to perform a procedure. In one example, the cannula device includes first and second housings defining a throughbore, and a plurality of elongate members extending distally from the housings, the elongate members cooperatively defining a passage axially aligned with the throughbore between proximal ends and distal tips of the elongate members. The first housing is moveable in an axial direction with respect to the second housing to cause the proximal ends of the elongate members to move outwardly to increase a size of the passage and, optionally, may taper when expanded. Optionally, one or more secondary devices, e.g., an obturator with a sharpened tip, or an obturator and tubular access device may be provided that may be inserted through the throughbore into the passage before expansion of the passage.
MEDICAL ACCESS DEVICE HAVING A GUARD ASSEMBLY
A medical device to protect a body opening, the medical device including a sleeve having a proximal end and a distal end a proximal ring attached to the proximal end of the sleeve, and a guard assembly located a distal end of the sleeve.
Seal for laparoscopic access port
A deformable seal for use together with a laparoscopic port has a deformable body with an upper region, a lower region, and a narrowed waist. A plurality of tool passing channels are individually formed in an axial direction through the deformable body, and each tool passing channel has a tool entrance on a surface of the upper region and a tool exit on a surface of the lower region. The tool passing channels are sufficiently elastic to conform to and seal about a shaft of a laparoscopic tool present in the channel and to close to inhibit leakage of an insufflation gases when the tool is removed from the tool passing channel.
DILATOR-LESS AND OBTURATOR-LESS INTRODUCER FOR VIEWING AND ACTING ON INTERNAL PASSAGEWAYS OR TISSUE
A medical device configured to move an introducer into a passageway or tissue without the conventional use of an obturator or dilator while concurrently affording visual control over the movement of a distal end of the introducer in the passageway or tissue.
ACCESS PORT DEVICE
A valve component 1 of the invention comprises a main valve 2 which is located on a centre line and at least one auxiliary valve 3 which is located radially outwardly of the main valve 2. The main valve may be used for sealing engagement with a cannula. In some cases the cannula may be used for introduction of a number of robotically controlled surgical instruments generally, including a camera. The auxiliary valves 3 may be utilised to introduce another instrument through the valve component. The valve component is mounted in a manner which ensures that the valve component 1 is rotatable about a centre line through the axis of the valve component 1. This ensures that the valve component 1 can be rotated relative to a cannula inserted through the main valve 2 and consequently that the auxiliary valves 3 are rotatable relative to the cannula allowing the auxiliary valves 3 to be positioned to facilitate optimum access and manipulation for an auxiliary instrument(s) inserted through the auxiliary valve(s) 2.
Flexible cannula having selective rigidity
A surgical access device includes a housing having a tubular member extending therefrom. The tubular member has inner and outer walls defining an annular lumen therebetween. A passageway extends between proximal and distal openings of the tubular member. The passageway is configured to receive a surgical instrument therethrough. A conduit is disposed in the annular lumen and includes spiral segments where each spiral segment is engaged with an adjacent spiral segment. The conduit is flexible in a first state and is fixed in a second state. A valve assembly is coupled to the housing and includes a port that is in fluid communication with the annular lumen. The port is attachable to a source of fluid.
A DEVICE FOR PROVIDING A STERILE LIMITED SPACE FOR SURGERY
The invention relates to a device for establishing and maintaining a sterile environment for conducting surgical procedures. In particular, the invention is related to a tent-like device providing an interior space and being attachable to a patient's skin to allow surgical treatment of the patient. Several aspects of the invention are directed to devices to be used in connection with such a surgical procedure using the tent-like device. According to the invention, an isolation device for providing a sterile operation chamber above a skin region of a patient is provided, in particular for performing a surgical procedure, said isolation device comprising an inflatable bag coupled to a support frame, the support frame having a transport configuration and an operation configuration, wherein in the transport configuration, the first inflatable bag is confined, such as to have compact dimensions; in the operation configuration, the first inflatable bag is extended, such as to form said sterile operation chamber.
